Should I go back to my old motorola virgin modem ?

Is there any difference between that and the superhub ?

fuggles 08-07-2013 09:48 AM

If I did, is this how I would change the mac address, and subsequent IP address ?

How to Change the MAC Address on a Motorola SB5100 | eHow UK

And then to get back my original ip, just reset the modem ?

Finally, just in the past few weeks, they have released Superhub 2. Does anyone know if this lets you change IP/ Mac address ?

You will get whatever IP your ISP provides you...you don't just get your original IP...It may be your original IP or a random IP.

I can't seem to change my IP address. I have a VM SuperHub 2 which has no mac settings. I have connected a Belkin G+ router to the hub via a 2nd pc and all internet is working. I have changed Mac settings on Belkin router successfully but the IP address won't change. Can anyone help please:heh:

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

Have you changed your router modem into modem only mode?

if I change the superhub into modem mode won't I lose wifi which I use with other things like phone & ipad?

You need to attach a wireless router to it and then reattach all your devised to run off the new wireless router.

You really really need to put up an eBay warning link before linking to eBay.

You still need to have a different IP for each stealth account.

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

im on vm using a sh2... id love to change the ip...

ive looked at the lease time of the ip setting, its due to expire this sat, im told that if my router is unplugged during the time it expires when i turn it back on a new ip will be asigned... obviously if the router is on im told it will renew the lease and obviously keep the existing ip ???

all new to me obviously as ive not tried this method before yet, and will be no good for those looking to change it 30 times a day LOL

ive made a note of the current ip incase it does in fact reset and give me a new one come sat afternoon hehe

if not ill be looking to go through the adding a router filtering mode, does anyone know if you can hook up a sh1 to a sh2 ?

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

if I connected to the separate modem using wireless , on 3 separate devices at the same time , would they all have the same ip address

JamesNorth101 12-12-2014 07:13 AM

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

Yes they would all have the same public IP address.

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

so it would be easier to stick to the one pc and create separate users and change ip each time ?

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

Correct.

Its a very solid well tested method :thumb:

Also look into vmware, makes it much easier!

Doesn't Virgin use static IP addresses?

JamesNorth101 12-12-2014 04:18 PM

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

Yes it does (sort of). Its more a long lease dynamic IP.

Whole thread is about how to force the IP to chance in the UK :thumb:

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

Can I just clarify something (sorry not computer savy) I want to run two ebay stealth accounts - got my ebay stealth and its brill - I've bought two maplin value routers (£8,99 each) so I go through the process as set out in the main post for each one - therefore I have two seperate IP addresses for my seperate stealth accounts and just connect the relevant router when I use the relevant stealth account - once I have done this process once do I have to do it everytime I connect the routers or do the IP addresses stay the same on the seperate routers? I hope this makes sense - just not sure whether I have to repeat it everytime I connect a router or just the once.

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

If they are both running though the virgin box then you will only have one IP address.

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

So the steps are

1.Connect a router to the Virgin Media SuperHub - i do this by using a ethernet cable?

2. Log into the router and change the MAC address as mentioned in Stealth Guide?

3. Then reset the virgin media SuperHub?

Re: Changing IP Address on Virgin Media using the Super Hub

1 - Yes
2 - Yes
3 - Yes

Got it all :thumb:
