Centurylink: Dynamic IP, But NOT Changing!!
 

I have centurylink and the ZyXel model wont let me change the MAC address. Im having issues getting my IP changed. Should i give up on this? I am SO illiterate with this lingo and how to do this! I do have a sprint nic /usb card I can use if thats easier to do.
I just dont know how to change my IP.

Yes, using the Sprint NIC card might be your best option.

Do you have the P660HW Zyxel model? I just read on another forum that it is impossible to change the MAC on those models since they are pre-loaded and do not allow users to change them. They do allow MAC filtering, but that won't help you here.

I would go w/ the Sprint USB card that you have, since that is easier for you.

I have a PK5001Z Looks like I cant change the MAC in the settings. I did the IPCONFIG/REnew and it game me a different IP address.. is that good to go? Should I do that everytime or just use my sprint card?

If you have a new ip address when you do the ipconfig /release & /renew, then you are golden :thumb:


The goal of doing this is to obtain a new IP address. Sounds like you've found your method. Now you just need to remember to keep track of your IP addresses on a spreadsheet. Some good samples are out there on the forum if you need.

Why are you so worried about changing MAC for eBay purpose?

The way I read it was, he wanted to change his router's MAC address to obtain a new IP from his ISP.

He was not looking to change PC's MAC address.
