unable to change ip address?
 

I called my isp which is verizon and they said my ip is dynamic and it will change on its own. So far its been the same ip. Ive tried the tutorials how to cjange ip address and it wont change. Tried turning off for a few minutes. Tried ipconfig /release then ipconfig/ renew and nothing changing it. Any advice? Its a windows 7 thank you

Randy888, important to clarify - are you tinkering with the router perhaps instead of the modem as well is another idea perhaps you are incorrectly doing

Verizon DSL with regular modem they give to customers. I've tried all the youtube videos how to change ip addresses and none helped. Tried powering off for hours also. Its been 4 weeks and same IP address. Its supposedly a Dynamic IP address. From my research its a long lease?

What happened to me was when i moved to my new place a few months ago I was told that i need to buy a cable modem so I ran out to best buy to get one. Got my cable service installed. Around this time i was messing with stealth procedures. I was able to change my IP with the modem i got from best buy. A week later I decided to add phone line service to my cable package. The installer came out and replaced my modem with one that had the Voip features. Install went great. Now i got phone service and internet runs fine.

Then one day I decided to change my ip noticed that it wouldn't let me change it to anything else. I was in panic mode and kept trying over and over without success. Then i started to track back what happened since the last time i changed IP successfully. Wondering for hours, everything kept pointing to the modem change. So i switched it out and called my cable provider to tell them I didn't want the phone service anymore and they updated their systems with my old modem details. And what do you know, I'm able to change IPs now.

So in your case it might be the modem your are using. Motorola cable modem brand from bb works for me.
