Do any tethering apps share the same ip address as the phone has?

T-Mobile is giving us a helluva time. The IP doesn't want to change on the hotspot.

I'm wondering if there are any apps that give you the same IP address from your phone to your wifi on your computer?

I have a verizon hot spot that's actually a flashed phone and i have an IP app on all my devices and checked and always get the same IP, I thought it was a given since u are using that phones Internet. I also have an unlocked Note 2 and have tmobile sim and AT&T and same results. The note has the tether button and actually becomes a hotspot but I have the same IP app on every device so I monitor this and no matter what service I use it's always same IP as what is on the phone , I didn't think the phone would have 2IPs if it's just one service. And with verizon it can be used as wireless hotspot or I can do a USB tether using PDA.Net I think or something like that and still IPS same

Tmobile does take the longest to switch IPs whereas Verizon is instant change , what I do with tmobile is switch off the data turn wifi on and usually get new IP after. 5 min

Thanks for the response.

Have you tried PDAnet with your T-Mobile device?

When you switch off the data, you mean the cellular data button? Do you leave it off for five minutes, and then turn it back on, turn on the hotspot and it's a different ip?

I'm thinking if nothing else works, maybe get a few different phones, or those little hotspot devices they sell for mobile internet, and maybe just keep rotating them. If it takes a period of time to reset the ip address, then I need to be able to rotate them so I can keep doing work.

What a hassle.

Here's are some APPS for Android devices -

IpDetector ~ Displays public IP & shows country, state, region, city as well as IP location on map.

IP Track ~ Displays public IP & local IP. This one has the abilityto keep track / logging of IP's. Also notifies if IP changes. :mod:Any tethered device can and will for whatever reason suddenly change it's IP at any time! If this ever does happen, I would close out the browsers tab immediately.

My Ip Widget Pro ~ Homescreen widget

Change IP timer ~ Ability to change IP at the push of a button. Faster, more convenient than 'airplane mode'.

IP Changer Pro ~ Another 'instant' IP address changer.

IP Manager ~ Set 'rules' according to your network environment..?

Copy IP ~ copy paste your IP's, I guess.

Clipbot ~ A cool automatic clipboard collector. Turn it on and it copys texts links whatever you type automatically collecting it, even after rebooting. Use this to keep track of your IP's..

How about any tethering apps for sharing the IP for the phone to a computer?

Do you mean you want to create a WiFi hotspot from the phone so you

can connect to it from computer like pda net? Or something else?

Yes my T-Mobile Iphone has built in hotspot. When I turn it on, I'm able to connect from my computer, but it gives it a different ip address from what my phone has.

The phone is very easy to change, I can turn it off and on and get a new ip immediately, but the hotspot doesn't change. I can get the hotspot to change a few times per day, but I really don't know how to change it on my own, it's pretty much guesswork at this point.

I'm going to take back my wife's phone and get her an android device, and use her phone if I need to for my work, she's pretty relaxed with not needing her phone, so it'll basically be my wifi device, so I'm wondering if pdanet or any other apps copy the ip address from your phone into what your computer uses from the hotspot to tether with.

Instead of using your phone as a wifi hotspot, connect it to your computer with the USB cable, and run PDAnet... your computer will now have the same IP as your phone =) hope this helped

Regardless if you are tethering thru USB or not should not effect your 'public' IP address. Their are local IP, DNS too, something could be setup wrong in network settings. I use tmoble hotspot device and also WiFi tether from my boost phone .
