IP/User Question

Hi everyone!

I purchased the eBay Stealth book and I absolutely love it! I have a quick question regarding IP addresses.

I am setting up 3 eBay stealth accounts. I have 1 computer and 1 router. My plan was to set up 3 separate Windows users and use each one for a different eBay account. I know how to change the IP by shutting off the router and letting it restart, making sure the IP was changed by checking it online.

My question is: do I need to reset the IP address every time I switch a user? I read in the book that eBay is not crazy about getting different IP addresses every time an account is logged in. So say I work my account on user 1, then reset the IP, then switch over to user 2. Will eBay get pissed off if I am continually logging in with different IP addresses. Don't they prefer to see the same IP to show stability for an account?

Is there anyway to KEEP an IP address linked to a user, then switch users, and have the 2nd IP pop up. Then if I switch back to the 1st user, the original IP is shown.

Am I doing this right or making my life more complicated LOL!!! :surrender:

Let me know. Thanks guys!!

You have the basics fine. Now you need the finer points.

Not going to work well with this set up. You are on the right track with having different user accounts. But you need to deal with the IP matter first.
Here's some hints:

Try this. Switch on your computer/modem. Run
IP Burger - Track Your IP Address!

Log the IP.

Switch off the computer/modem. Make a hot drink. ;)

Switch everything back on.

Use ipburger com again.

Log the IP. In your case, you may not see a change of IP. Yours appears to be static. ( Stays the same).

Your aim should be to have a different IP for each account.

You can decide to use a dongle, tethering. This will enable you to have different IP access and thus look 'different' for ebay/paypal.

These are the early days of getting your head around stealth. Make the right choices and you get right into good stealth operating.

Hope this helps.

Two laptops and two pcs on home wifi. One PC hooked directly to the modem/router combo with cable. The others by wifi.

Re: IP/User Question

1) You should be using a new IP for each account

2) You TRACK the IP to make SURE there is no overlap of IP over accounts.

Simple :) Yes, time-consuming to change but it must be done.

Re: IP/User Question

I had similar questions and I'm not sure I'm seeing a specific answer to this question. If you have 5 stealth accounts you change your IP between each account every time you log in, correct? So if you log into each account 4 times a day then you are changing your IP 20 times total? And if eBay sees that you logged in 5 times to one account and each time you did the IP address was different won't that raise red flags? I wouldn't think you'd continue to get new IP addresses after changing the IP around so many times. I'd also like to hear how often stealth users are logging into their accounts using this system daily as well. Thanks

Re: IP/User Question

Welcome to the forums jstaley.

You need different IP for each account vs. the other accounts so, in your scenario, yes you could get 20 different IP - just make sure that one ip is not being used by 2 accounts.

It wont raise red flags with the different IP since your cookies are in place.

You keep track of the IPs being used with the excel spreadsheet offered around the forum

Re: IP/User Question

Okay that makes sense about the cookies. Yes I found the spreadsheets and already have them in use. Very helpful. So I've been logging each new IP under each account when I log in each time. Once account has 6 different IP addresses because I get a new one each time I log in. I'm tethered through my Iphone. Just wanted to make sure that's the way it's supposed to be done. Thanks

Good - make sure you dont use the IP over 2+ accounts
