IP double check

ok,
so just to check...when i look at my IP address (in process of logging, and making sure it is new) how many of the last decimal points will change? which segments? how do i tell that it is not just a sub ip? is that possible?

Doesn't matter which segment changes, as long it does change...Usually it's the last segment or last two segments.

So long as any digit in the public IP is different then its a new IP address.
