What is the easiest or best way to change IP address

Hello I currently run 6 accounts and i use the switching router method. ..it is time consuming. ..and every time I get get a new account I buy a different router...so if I was running 20 or more accounts at once what would be the easiest was to change IP address?

Hi,
get yourself a ISP with a dynamic range of IPs. You then change them by switching on and off your one and only router.
There is no need to get one router for each account.

I have a local cable ISP and the IP address do change but it take a few days for them to change and I can't wait a few days to log on. To each account if im running 20 accounts...is there a trick r something that I'm missing to use one router but change the IP address from.one account to another?

Look into getting a dynamic IP address though an ISP that has a much shorter IP lease time.

Alternatively you could look into phone tethering or mobile usb dongles :thumb:

Why not go into router settings change the Mac and reset the modem , it takes 2 min to change IP

Dongle - cellphone tethering - dynamic IP home provider - all work well for changing IPs

I agree with rsot here. Tethering or hotspot has got to be one of the easier and cost effective methods. I use my iPhone to tether and all I have to do is turn off the data then turn it back on and BAM new IP address with just TWO touches.

change pc+router mac = new IP and the switch between accounts takes less than 2 minutes

obviously only log in on a corresponding vmware account after changing the settings

i just change mac on my router, reboot router, unplug modem for a bit, plug back in. BAM new IP, just keep track of what MAC Addy is for each account

This is the fastest way to go.

I tether to an iphone, that I have just for stealth accounts...takes about 20-30 seconds max to get a new IP.

Re: What is the easiest or best way to change IP address

I'm looking for the best way to change IP's as well. My question is, don't all these methods choose a random IP from a pool every time it changes? ( forgive me if I am misinformed, I am new at this and learning ).

So then, after you connect with an IP, you need to search your list that you've been keeping of IP's used on the other stealths. If it's an IP that you have used on others, then just disconnect and reconnect until you get a fresh one ( or one you have only used on the current account)?

Hence, you will really be logging into your brand new stealth account from different IP's every time? Doesn't that raise flags?

Is there a way to keep a static IP for each account or is that overkill?

I find that overkill - just make sure IPs dont overlap

Well, my first order of business is to get one or two accounts up and running asap to get my business doing something again. I planned a two pronged approach of buying a couple of established accounts then continuing to build more on my own.

Eventually, I would like to have many accounts. Will keep building and always have multiple aged and at the ready to use or possibly sell.

I have one line of business right now, but I plan to expand to other products/services and more selling avenues other than ebay.

I have figured out how to do this on my ASUS router and tested it out last night.

It was working great at first, I just changed the last few digits of the MAC address and my IP changed. But, I did this like 5 times in a row to test it and after that it stopped working. It kept reverting back to my old IP.

I have Comcast. Did I perhaps set off some sort of safety with Comcast by doing it too many times close together?

When you switch between accounts are you doing multiple changes in a short period of time? and have you had this experience I mentioned at all?

Re: What is the easiest or best way to change IP address

I presume you are altering your Router's MAC address. It's not recommended because your ISP probably keeps a log of it (and therefore you as a customer) and thereby assigns an IP address to you. The MAC address is a number assigned to a network device and used as an ID for said device.
