IP address location. Confused
I recently bought a VPS from a provider that's new to me, after using another one for 2 years.
Their servers are supposed to be located in (for example: ) Vancouver, Canada. Once logged into my new VPS, I use IPBurger.com and it said my location was Arizona, United States. Same with Google maps. But almost all other websites that give info on your IP said I was in Vancouver, like it's supposed to be. Meanwhile, my home IP is correct on all websites.
After talking with my provider, they said the geolocation databases are out of date. And that my regular home IP has been with my provider for a while (years) so that's why it's been correct. While the VPS IP has been with this provider with just a few months and that eventually it will be correct.
Does this make sense?
Thanks
