| benny | 06-22-2014 12:23 PM | sign up for vps service ? hi
i understand very little about vps service but i wonder if it is worth signing up for one and worth the money to control my ip addresses for eb/pp accounts ?
i see transip has them starting at £5.00 per month,
also what is an IPv4 address (yes i am that dumb about this subject)
any advice would be great guys but please remember i know nothing about how they work etc so please the simpler the better lol.
i intend to build upto about 8/10 eb/pp stealth accounts
thanks in advance |

| benny | 06-28-2014 07:14 AM | Re: sign up for vps service ? i connect through my router but in order to change my ip i have to reset the router everytime i want to change account, as i intend to buy a few stealth accounts from here i am simply looking to find the best way to give them all a different fixed ip,
i would therefore have a different user account on my system with its own ip for each account i buy and be able to log in and use the ip i have for that user/account, and not have to reset the router everytime i change user/account,
if that makes sense,
i am just trying to understand the best way to do that before i buy the accounts in order to keep them as safe as possible |
| benny | 06-28-2014 07:23 AM | Re: sign up for vps service ? thankyou for the helpful reply GB
a dongle i guess would be a way to go, i already have a dongle here somewhere lol maybe i can simply use that with a different sim card in it for each account, as i am trying to avoid having to keep a track of ip's used per account and checking each before i connect, thats why i was wondering about the vps/vpn route as each would have its own ip and do away with the need to watch them |
| GreenBean | 06-28-2014 07:49 AM | Re: sign up for vps service ? Ah, here's another tip....
for stealth, I try to never do away with watching anything that might give me trouble. I actually log my IPs.
With the dongle, with a VPS, you still need to be careful.
If you go the way of a dongle, you should check reception too. |
| Klemantina | 06-28-2014 06:50 PM | Re: sign up for vps service ? How much you pay for dongle?
I need 5 to operate 5 accounts?
The VPS that people selling for ebay stealth might not work? even if its unused ip i still can be banned? |
| salescheaper | 06-29-2014 04:11 AM | Re: sign up for vps service ? I use a VPN, no tracking of the IP's i use either. Been using several accounts for over 12 months now no problem. I think as long at the IP is the general area of your account address and you have the cookies. Generally you will be fine.
I was thinking about a VPS myself, but are they really required? Its perfectly normal for people to use different wifi hotspots etc.
When i travel abroad, i sometimes use the ebay app on my phone. Using the local SIM card data, no issues with ebay logging in. Wifi can cause me some troubles. Switch to data and all is well in the world.
I'd never risk it with paypal though. Too temperamental. I always use a VPN from the laptop to access PP |
| mitanc | 06-29-2014 05:06 AM | Re: sign up for vps service ? While I am new in the stealth community, I think a VPS will be difficult for anyone to trace. Your connecting to a machine outside your network and from there connecting to ebay/paypal etc.
I travel a lot in China and use the same methods to access facebook, youtube, etc (which is normally blocked) works like a charm. Anyone have any idea why you would say its detectable?
Last option maybe use the TOR network? No one will know where your coming from then! |
| benny | 06-29-2014 05:33 AM | Re: sign up for vps service ? following up on this....
i have now been looking into using vpn service and for about £10 per month i can have a dedicated ip and unlimited data i think thats a small price to pay to keep a eb/pp account as safe as can be with its own dedicated ip,
i will try this for a while looking for problems but it means i can change user account on my system and sign into vpn with the login for that account which is only used for that account,
also means i can leave cookies etc in place which helps and have no need to trace ip's i use as they all have their own dedicated ip per account,
if i have this wrong please advise guys, |
| GreenBean | 06-29-2014 05:43 AM | Re: sign up for vps service ? VPNs are worse than VPS.
Too many users have burned them and therefore accounts are at risk.

TOR stinks, suxes and is a menance. For that VERY reason ,paypal/ebay block TOR.
We are giving the advice based on experiences of accounts being suspended because your espoused methods were used.
I decline to enable users to fail.

:nono: | The trouble with VPN is tons of people share the same service, such as strongvpn or the like. Even when on one of these services, if you do a google search, it may ask you to confirm a captcha because people tend to log onto these services and do all sorts of "naughty" stuff on the web. The shared IP gets bombarded with bad requests and eventually gets flagged / blocked / or worse.
With a VPS, you can find a lot of cheap small ones on lowendbox.com and pass your traffic thru these machines and you should be relatively hidden. I wonder how about using a proxy server like privoxy through a VPS if that enables less tracking? |

 | @GreenBean, sorry, I don't mean to steer anyone into the wrong direction, I probably should have stated my response as more of a question in order not to confuse anyone. Like I said I am new to stealth, but I do have a decent background in IT so the changing IPs using a VPS sounds like the best option to me, I am just curious why people say its not very good? |
| salescheaper | 06-30-2014 04:37 PM | Re: sign up for vps service ? Don't mistake my post, a VPS is probably your best option. Just the VPN i use is small ( under 1 million users globally) Hence why i've probably stayed safe. I think over the next few months i'll start with vps. Also the reason you can use a VPN/VPS/proxy to access websites, yet they may not protect you from the website blocking you is because the chinese government is blocking from the middle. So your pc sends a message, its about to leave china for facebooks server and its blocked and bounced back. So you use a VPN which puts your message in a protected bubble, which tells china as it leaves, its got data but it doesn't tell it what the data is or where it is going. So China let it through to your VPN then to facebook.
The thing with VPN's/VPS and ebay is, ebay is the end point in the message chain. So its not deciding it doesn't like your message, its deciding it doesn't like where it comes from ( VPN/VPS)
Hope that makes sense |

VPS is fine, I think Greenbean is confusing VPS for VPN maybe..
I would suggest VPS over VPN and while VPN can be okay, they're abused more often and thus flagged for usage. Now if you setup your own VPN, that's a different story, that's fine. Same goes for a VPS.
Proxies of any sort on the other hand I would not recommend. |
| vetman90 | 07-01-2014 02:03 AM | Re: sign up for vps service ? A VPN has never been a problem for any of my accounts however, doing it safely will cost you.
It's all about leasing a "virgin" IP that is "local" to your stealth address. You also do not want to use a provider that is well known and using blocks of IP addresses that eBay has had experience with.
I have been told that eBay can recognize blocks of IP addresses that have not been burned yet but fall into a block that they have made many busts in and therefore just give the user the boot rather than research it any further.
A reputable provider will charge you between $20 to $25 / month for each fresh IP in your county (or as close as possible).
I prefer this route so I don't have to catalog my ip addresses as required to prevent accidentally reusing one on several different accounts.
Best not to mention VPN providers names on a message board. |

| masimo | 09-01-2014 02:28 PM | Re: sign up for vps service ? Long time user of VPN, never had been linked, eBay/PP need more than IP to link you, they have considered that people move around the country and use wifi so they would be crazy to link you on the basis of IP only.... | | All times are GMT -5.
