Google Fiber IP Address won't change

I know this internet provider is not available in many locations but I figured I'd ask anyways. After following the instructions in the Ebay Stealth Guide I have been unable to get my IP address to change. I did a web chat with customer service and they told me they do not offer static IP addresses and if I unplugged the power from the "fiber jack" the IP address should sometimes change. I have done that and still end up with the same IP address. Anyone had any luck changing the IP address for Google Fiber?

I would dump the idea of getting your home network IP to change. Go with tethering from your phone or get a dongle

Is there a dongle you recommend?

How long did you unplug it for? What make and model is your device?

1. Do you have access to the configuration of the "fiber jack"?
2. If the answer is "Yes", are you able to spoof/change the mac address?

I unplugged the fiber jack for 5 minutes. Google fiber enters the house via the "fiber jack" which then runs to the Google Fiber network box model# gfrg100 and a then to a Netgear gigabit ethernet switch model gs105.

I don't have access to the fiber jack config.

Then you cannot change IP address. Request for access.

The key is to change the mac address of the fiber jack or the network box?

I am confused, can you map out your network.

Fibre Jack --> [ ? ] ---> PC. Do you have access to [ ? ] and what WAN IP do you see there? Is it the same as what you see in ipburger.com?

Change the Netgear Mac Address then unplug and plug Fiber Jack back in and you will should get a new IP address.

Re: Google Fiber IP Address won't change

Google Fiber provides a Network Box that is directly connected to the fiber jack.

The Network Box is a combo router/modem. Most, if not all, combo boxes make it very difficult to modify the MAC address to alter the IP. The ISP is usually the only one that can do this.

Try following these steps below to see if it helps.

If it allows you to modify your Network Box's MAC address, this should force Google to assign a new IP.

Good luck, let us know how you fare.

I will try this tonight and let you know how it goes.

I believe the part I need to pay attention to here https://support.google.com/fiber/ans..._topic=2731870 is the second part that says "To reserve an IP address for a specific device:"

Do I put the mac address of my network box in the mac address fields and then my current ip address in the ip address fields? If so how does that change my ip address? Or does doing this then allow me to change my ip address in windows?

Probably best to get a wireless device (dongle) for eBay/PayPal if you're having this much trouble. I have gone as far as having a dedicated broadband service (that changed IP easily) for eBay/PayPal. That's before wireless dongles were around. Geez.. I've been doing this for a LONG time.
