Ideally, you want the IP address to be in the same general area as your stealth address, but it is not the end of the world if it is not.
They really don't have any way (that I know of) to tell exactly where you are using technical means. They rely on a database of IP's in which the ISP lists their location. But IP addresses change hands, providers merge and go out of business and the IP's get spread around. So, the current Geolocation methods are only as reliable as the database updates which are not all that reliable to begin with.
If you create a new stealth account, I would try to create it in the same area as the IP, but I wouldn't abandon this account. It is doubtful that it would be closed for that alone. If there were other issues, eBay might look at the IP, but if the account has no other issues I wouldn't worry about it. |
