Netgear modem/router, just power on/off ?

Hello,

I've Netgear N150 modem/router in-one device. Running at dynamic IP internet access.
For stealth purposes, all I need is simply push power on/off button ?
Or do I need to connect a second router to my device and then connect with ebay ?

Thanks

Best thing to do is test it.

Note your IP address, turn off your router, turn it back on. See if you have a new IP

Yes, it is making new IP that way.

But... in Guide there was an instruction to change last two digits of MAC address, and also a funny thing with swaping a couple routers.
But there was no info about router/modem in one device, that's why I am concerned about.

So long as your IP changes your good to go.

Make sure you keep track of the IP addresses though :thumb:

Because mainly the stealth guide was made prior to the popularity of those router/modem devices. The guide helps build your foundation while the forum helps keep the stealth concepts up to date.

Also those all-in-one combo modem/router's are very difficult to change their MAC addresses. It is more complex, since you would have to force the combo router into bridge mode. Usually that capability is only reserved to the ISP.

You mentioned your IP changes upon a reset. So long as you can do that, you're good to go. Keep track of IP's as James noted and you're all set :thumb:

FWIW's, I did find your N150's manual online here. I perused through it and I don't see a way to modify the WAN MAC address.

I have a netgear modem as well.

The stealth book actually clearly explains how to change your ip address.

To simplify, change your mac address by 1 unit(ie: 14 to 15) , turn off your modem, turn off your router. After 10 seconds, turn the modem back on and then turn your router back on.

bam! new IP

Yeah, but just to double check, if simply reset makes me a new IP I am happy to go. If that is my priority, then fine. I don't need to change MAC address in that case, I assume.

Those were optional methods to change an IP address. If what you're doing is working (turning on and off your device) than you're fine and good to go.

Depending on your ISP , will determine what method to use.

I have comcast and I need to go thru router settings , and change my MAC .

But as long as you get a new IP your good , I wish mine was that easy, now I'm used to it but would of helped in the beginning

If I am going stealth for first time, how would I know that the IP addresses that I use for stealth now, are not the same for the acc before I went stealth ?
Or this is the problem which have no solution ?

It,all depends on your ISP, some services the IP changes everyday others like Comcast, you will hold the same IP for 5-6 months or more, so I wouldn't worry too much if it's like Comcast where the IP changes not often

You could of only used 3 IPs in a year, but if your service is constantly changing than switch your internet service
