Is it ok to use an IP that is only 1 digit off from the last?

I have multiple eBay accounts and I'm wondering if using very similar IP's can get me booted or if it doesn't matter as long as its different.

For example, would:

Account #1 - 98.244.29.334
Account #2 - 98.244.29.335
Account #3 - 98.244.29.336
Account #4 - 98.244.29.337
Account #5 - 98.244.29.338
Etc...

Get me in any IP trouble?

Thanks!

It's normal, you'll be fine.

By the way this has been posted at least a dozen times in the forums. Use the search feature for a quick Q&A. Thanks,

So does it matter where the eBay account holder is supposedly located? At first I would have thought that if my account said I was in St. Louis, MO but my IP was saying I was in Tampa Bay, FL it might throw up a red flag to eBay but then I checked my real IP and it said I was in Charlottesville, VA although I am way over on the western side of the United States.

Hehe that was funny. Whats your take?

aspkin 11-02-2008 09:43 PM

It does matter, and it's in eBay Stealth the reason why.

I just read through the IP Section again and can't find anything specifically elaborating on this issue. Maybe you can point me in the right direction? eBay suspending me because my Cable ISP provider points them in the wrong direction seems a bit absurd to me. It is not my fault that my ISP (Comcast to be specific) chose to give me an IP from Charlottesville, VA when I am on the West Coast. Right?

Are you saying that ebay HAS suspended you for this already? Or are you worried that you may have a potential problem.

Hottest_eBay_Goddess 11-03-2008 03:17 AM

There were kind of two separate questions I compiled into this thread. My original question was if I used IP's with only the last digit being different, would it get me in any IP trouble with eBay in which aspkin basically said "No". I then requested a further clarification on the questions asking if it would matter if my account were in other cities and states but my IP was in another located in which he said it would. Thats when I started bringing up the fact that my Comcast recently changed my IP from an area close to me, to an area several thousand miles away. They just changed my IP 3-4 days ago and so far my main eBay and PayPal account is still in good standing.

OK, that I understand. Any Cable provider may for technical reasons change a SERVER location. If the IP stays within the acceptable range {as confirmed by
aspkin,}there is usually no problem.Keep a log of IPs and check them whenever
you use your accounts.

Hottest_eBay_Goddess 11-03-2008 11:44 PM

Well this was not within an acceptable range by any means. My IP went from a West Coast IP to an East Coast IP! 27 to 98!

That shouldn't be possible with your broadband, no other service I know does this.

Use IP Address Locator - Enter an IP address to find its location - Lookup Country Region City etc to confirm it's tracking you to your correct location.

Hottest_eBay_Goddess 11-04-2008 07:42 PM

Hey aspkin, I tried that and got the message:

We are unable to locate the address 98.xxx.29.xxx at this time.

I disagree on the last digit ....

Im sur eeBay knows that if the last (2) digit changes but not the others that means thoose pcs are on the same network..
