Verizon Samsung network extender scs-2u01 I have Verizon 3G mifi, but my area has bad coverage unfortunately. Verizon sells a device named "Samsung network extender scs-2u01" it somehow uses your internet connection to boost your 3G reception.
Anyone tried this to know if I would still get dynamic IPs from Verizon wireless while using the device? or does it simply work as a router and use your home internet IP on your 3G data? |

Not the same thing as what you're thinking or wanting to do. |

Not the same thing as what you're thinking or wanting to do. | This is the device I'm talking about Samsung Network Extender SCS 2U01 | Verizon Wireless |

It's not used for what you want to do.
BTW, your MiFi emits signals, it does not acquire them from other devices like a computer or phone. |

Re: Verizon Samsung network extender scs-2u01 I started reading the owner's manual and I came across this image http://i58.tinypic.com/2zns9xs.png
If this picture is accurate it would mean, that the extender would be working like a VPN. What are your thoughts? |

Yes , this device acts as a cell phone tower and will improve your Verizon 3G and Voice Coverage within your house, so if your home and your phone only has 1 or 2 Bars and the 3G internet is dragging big time , than it will boost the verizon signal within your home
So you may go from 1 or 2 bars to a full signal and your 3G service will be on point and u won't have problems loading data
The device is able to improve Verizon's coverage by using your home Wifi and it uses that to boost your verizon signal |

| unkown5454 | 03-19-2015 07:43 PM | Re: Verizon Samsung network extender scs-2u01 And from that picture, you can clearly see it's just a router sitting behind your other home router. Again, all this does is reroute traffic through your home network by imitating a cell tower that your devices will connect to. |

If it does get Verizon wireless IPs I would be good to go. If not, there is not much I can do as other providers also have bad coverage at my house. Which is very strange since it is in the city. |

So it would be a worth a try, since I have no better choice. |
| Dmshark25 | 03-19-2015 08:01 PM | Re: Verizon Samsung network extender scs-2u01 Well you will be getting the same IP from your cell phone now, so have you been checking the IPs on your phone??
The Samsung Extender is just going to give your phone a stronger signal, it had nothing to do with your cell phones IP address
So say your phone is staying on the same IP now, than by using the extender it will not change that, your phone will still have one IP, it just will be a stronger connection
And this is just an example im sure if it's verizon 3G you have a large IP pool
Do you understand what the Extender is doing , and have you been using your phone and know how to change the ip ?? |

I can also change its IP by enabling and disabling data, and it has a good IP pool. I will purchase the device to test it out. |
