| Haidukken | 06-14-2016 04:39 AM | MIFI devicen ot changing IP Right,
Just a quick one- I've got one of those fancy EE MiFI Devices and it has been working without problems since I got it about a week ago.
Yesterday evening I was doing my normal stealthin and everything was OK. Then the IP suddenly stopped changing after I did the whole ON/OFF thing and I couldn't be bothered trying it again for another 15 minutes so I went to bed and gave the poor device a bit of rest.
This morning I tried again, with no success.
I tried multiple times the usual "hold down the button till your finger turns blue" and even took the little hobbit size SIM out... But I'm still rocking the same IP.
Whats the solution, how should I deal with it? Should I go for a hard-reset and drop it into a glass of water, or are there other ways of resolving my problem.
Cheerio. |

| Haidukken | 06-14-2016 07:57 AM | Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP Jesus, this little bumblebee is really making me angry today.
I've gone into settings, fiddled around with it a bit and managed to get IP change twice but even then it gave me previously used IPs.
Factory reset, blue finger resets... Still same situation.
I feel like my grandad back in 2003 when he purchased his first, and last, mobile phone and then never took it with him because he thinks that the phone needs to stay in the house, just in case somebody calls. |

I have heard of these croaking  |
| Haidukken | 06-14-2016 08:34 AM | Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP I'm not even entertaining that idea- Can you imagine explaining to customer service how their product works very well, but doesn't change IP when I want it to change?
Jesus, I would have more luck inventing electricity, developing computers to a point where I could create WiFi signal, then spending years of my time develop a machine that is capable of producing MiFi and using that device then to access my accounts.
I'll just go and have a shower with the little thing and then return it to shop and claim I don't know how it happened. |
Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP Can you log into the device? |
| davids01 | 06-14-2016 12:17 PM | Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP I know this may be obvious, but have you tried to take the battery out for a little while. Sometimes the one i use wont reset for anything and i have to do this.:noidea: |
Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP OP - Have you tried today? maybe it was temporarily sticking to the same IP.
MM78 - I dont think that this device has that option. Its very simple, charge, pop sim in, go.
For flashing etc. I think you can login.
Davids01 - Battery is internal. |

As for location, I doubt thats the case. EE should have a vast IP range. They hold the largest share of users in the UK. |
Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP The only thing I can think of is to force the Mifi to release the IP, turn it off, turn it on. |
| Haidukken | 06-14-2016 06:15 PM | Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP MM, I tried logging into the little ****er and its pretty easy becasue EE has built a lovely GUI for it.
I can reset to factory settings and I can change IP lease time, but thats about it.
I've managed to change it couple of times with the tiny hard reset button that you have to fiddle with a tip of a pen. I've tried resetting away from home as well, hoping that maybe it was just because of my location- I took it with me when I went shopping, I did get a new IP but thats not really a viable option!
I've been stuck all day with this issue and its pretty annoying, because it was working very well for a week and now I'm stuck with a PMS Bumblebee. So annoying. |
Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP The only other option I can remotely think of is to plug the SIM card (if it uses one) into another device that it can work with and see if it works but Id hate for you to spend the cash on another device. |
| Haidukken | 06-15-2016 01:58 AM | Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP Nah, I'd rather keep cavemanning this **** and use the little pinhole for hardcore resets and keep the button pressed down till I've lost my fingers.
My EE Broadband is coming next week, so everything should go back to "normal" and this MiFi thing was an emergency at the moment anyway- I had a contract with Virgin but on the day of the planned "switch back on" visit I phoned them up and they said that there was a problem and I'd have to wait 6-8 WEEKS before they can give me internet.
Thats the sort of **** I have to deal with when moving a house! Virgin can suck a bag of slimey ones. |
| ngppkk | 06-16-2016 09:03 AM | Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP you can try going to local starbucks and go online there and restart your mifi |
Re: MIFI devicen ot changing IP Hopefully you've found an alternative solution - OP, or perhaps you've now got swollen fingers from pressing down the reset button.
Either way I've discovered a cool trick that can help get you out of the sticky IP situation. Simply go to the Mifi settings panel, and tongle the LTE/4G on/off, that will force it to 3G, and if your on 3G already then 4G and vice versa. This in turn releases the IP and gives you a different one (90% of the time).
Note - this still doesn't solve the issue whereby EE's IP pool is relatively small. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:28 AM. | |
