Converting a VERY old Buyer Account to a Seller account - Limits?

I am going to convert a friends very old buyer account (for pre 2004) to a seller account to pawn my wares. He's on board with the whole thing, I am actually bringing him into my business.

The PP account was previously confirmed with a CC, phone number, and bank account - my friend is a bum, all this information is all currently invalid. CC and bank accounts have since been closed and the phone number has since been changed. All this information needs to be updated.

I have a few questions.
How should we go about adding the new information?
All at once? or slowly over the span of a few days maybe weeks if needed?
Would it be a good or bad idea to add a Walmart Money Card with all my info as the bank account? there is no way in hell he's getting a bank account, chexsytems will have his ass.

He has a few feedbacks as a buyer on this account but obviously nothing as a seller.

Would this account be "safe" to start selling right away (VeRO items)? - slowly of coarse, I'm assuming it will be subject to listing limits just like new accounts.
Or would it be smart to treat it like a brand new account and maybe buy a few things first before letting the bombs drop?

I'd say go very slow and limit how much you sell each month. Give great CS and be nice to buyers. ANd of course, ignore and block buyers that ask idiotic questions or even suspicious questions.

You'd want to pamper your 2004 account

Thank You for the response. I still do not know the added benefits this 2004 account will provide me but from the tone I get on these boards everything pre 2007 seems great. I would love to hear some more detail on this

Dont do ebay and 'assume'. The only thing good about the account right now is.........very very little. Put aside this thought that older accounts mean a go free card. They do not. You need to nuture the account :pop2:

With the current ebay clime, transactions are going to be screened and flagged. Even these super-duper pre-2007 accounts are being flagged.
No way will you be able to do vErO right off the bat.

I would not recommend changing the name. At a pinch, new bank account, new phone. You are going to need each & every detail of the account. ebay may still turn around and suspect the account got hijacked :spy:

GreenBeen - advice always appreciated. I'll change the info slowly, I don't plan on changing the name. I'm actually taking on my friend as a "partner" in huhum sorta say. If it gets flagged for some reason, I got him to back it all up with his credentials.

I am going to treat this as a new account as far as selling. Once the info gets changed I will buy a few items I need anyway and start dropping sales here and there for like 30 - 60 days. Then VeRO will get dropped in slowly but surely.

Any other tips to nurture this account will be tremendously appreciated.

Just go slow and steady on items is the best advice. Don't spike or change anything too quickly. Once you get it going fully though you will see the benefits on that account, it'll be worth it.

Address is still valid though? For buying and returns and such.

Its not the current address but it is a family members and being so it is fully accessible without any problems. maybe just a few raised eyebrows from some fam members but nothing more

use it a little for buying first, just so it is not a sudden-looking hack-job..then convert
