Default Ebay account in the UK?

I'm from the U.S. and am planning on opening a U.S. account tommorow with a giftcard and a new bank account, anyways, what do I need to open a UK account? Can I use the same info that I used from the U.S.? I have some stuff I want to sale and U.K. seems like a big market, hopefully customs won't rape me with their fees.(i'll just mark them as gifts) Thx

Hi, why don't you use your us account to list on the uk site? that's what I do, unfortunately they now require under 100 feedback to accept paypal.

Customs are fine if you mark your item at like, £10 or so. But yes, I would reccomend listing from your US account, new UK accounts require a UK bank account.

I import shed loads Mant, and have used all the old tricks.. mark less than £36 etc.. mark as gift, problem being there, should the package go astray, your limited to claiming the amount on the Customs form from the US, which can be quite hairy if your shipping a £600 coin as £36 total..

Anyone know any ways of shafting the Taxman..>?

Scouse:
I ship 6-8 pkgs/week overseas.. I use UPS..
-- I normally send as a sample. they are stationary items, some of them are $400..
There are 2 sections for ups.. The Declared Value (customs), and the Carriage Value (Ins amt)..
Ive been doing it this way for over 3 yrs, with no probs--I also circle--the receivers tax id#.. this is the most common reason for exception..ups starts clearing the pkg when it boards the 1st usa plane, they fax or teletype the info to the receiving countries customs...
BTW- I ve had 2 or 3 claims over the years,. where the "sample" value was like $50, and the Insurance was $600-- they have always paid..
