IP addresses with O2 Dongle
 

After losing loads of account with T-mobile dongle I decided to spend some time logging my IP's.

I simply hit the connect button - noted the IP from whatismyip.com and disconnected, reconnect etc. I did this for over an hour and I had duplicated IP addresses around fifty times. One IP stayed the same with 3 disconnections on the trot!!

One IP duplicated around nine times! They were putting me all over the UK. Very rarely anywhere near.

If one of these IPs was used when registering a PayPal account - and then that PayPal was limited and/or negative balance then that IP is toast right?

So I bought an O2 Dongle and decided to keep a track of IPs. The problem I'm having is that unlike T-mobile this O2 Dongle is putting me in one specific place (miles and miles from where I am...) and only giving me about six or seven IPs. The last three digits of IP is changing between .220 and .226 and duplicating itself time and time again.

Is there any way round this issue? six IPs is useless to me...

I think it causes your account to be flagged, but not necessarily tossed. PP also relies on regular cookies as well as flash cookies.

I do not think that a usb modem will get you tossed of ebay because the ip address is used by thousands of other users and ebay will have that ip range logged down as a mobile user and should disregard it.

It is my theory that the ip address is only brought into the picture when a cookie or flash cookie reports back that a banned account and regular account has been viewed in the same browser, and then only flagged if the same report comes back a number of times.

The dependency of using this would rely on what kind of merchandise you are selling, if the merchandise is in the high risk area then you get no breaks cut if one thing is wrong.

That's my take on it.
