multiple ip's at the same time / multiple EBAY accounts

Hi again

I read this on the other page and was wondering about it as well

Has anyone been suspended due to being linked to an old suspended account multiple times…and then used the above to get back on and stayed on for more than a couple months without being suspended again?

aspkin 01-27-2007 11:17 AM

The eBay guide is good for creating new accounts, and I've tried to talk about the many ways eBay uses to try to link you with another account. If you don't follow the steps 100%, you run the risk of being found out. They're not easy steps, but doing them right has saved a lot of people. The only problem is if you go back to your old habits. Selling the same items eBay tells you not to sell, you run the risk of being suspended as well.

Getting booted over and over

Hi again. So I've tried and tried. I follow the guide to a T. Still getting linked to an old account I got banned on last year. They have it locked down for 1 year due to shill bidding.

I followed the guide 100%. No cookies, new name with address, ⊗⊗⊗⊗ checking account, etc. Changed my titles and descriptions although still selling the same items - gems. The only things I see that are still in any way related is that sometimes I will go to "Community" and put in my old screenname to see what my feedback is on my account I can't use anymore (just makes me mad when I see people still adding good feedback)...also I reply to emails under my old Email account while logged in on this new IP address. But I only REPLY - I do NOT respond using the EBay button. The only other thing is my PayPal. I have my new email address on my paypal but only use it.

Any ideas guys??? Wow it hurts.

Take care

It could be your replying to the eBay emails. There seems to be a cult following on this idea that eBay has cookies hidden within the emails that can log you IP... I'm not to sure about that, but I never messed with any of my past eBay accounts either. Try to stay as far away as you can from any of you suspended accounts.

Clean your cookies, passwords, delete any eBay software. Make 100% sure your IP address is different. Your IP address is the easiest way for eBay to track who you are and where you're from. Only use yahoo or gmail emails. Don't mess with any of your past eBay emails or even accounts for that matter. When an account of mine become suspended, I would just forget about that email, and simply create a new one. Don't risk it.

I'm guessing it's your IP address though.

EBay tracking through Email?

I tell you - I am starting to wonder if this is true.

Two things I've done differently and I haven't got linked to my old account yet.

I'm no longer reading old emails from this new IP. If I want to read an old email I login from another IP.

I am starting off slow - I am selling some household goods to get feedback instead of buying the ebooks. I'm selling a few to get about 5 feedback and then I'll crank it up with my normal stock somewhat.

But to link me to an old account I don't think they would do this based on what I'm selling. It has to be more specific than this. I am starting to wonder if the email thing is true. Is EBay having their emails send IP information? Those tricky guys - I wouldn't put it past them.

Take care

A lot of people have said eBay places cookies within their emails, I send emails for my business all the time and using images and scripts I'm able to track who opens an email and if they click on a specific link. If that can be done, why not being able to place cookies on your machine, grab your IP and send it to eBay. I'm beginning to believe this can and is being done.

multiple ip's at the same time / multiple EBAY accounts

A few people alluded to using multiple IP's at the same time, and I was wondering if someone can help elaborate on setting that up or perhaps can point me in the right direction.

I have multiple computers. Having enough computers ain't the issue. I have a cable modem with a dynamic IP through my ISP. The cable modem is connected to my router, and I have several computers going through my router.

What I'd like the good people of this forum to advise me on, is if there is a way I can hook up two different computers to each have a different IP address at all times, using my one cable internet account? That way, I can use one computer for my selling account and have bogus address on ebay, and I can use another computer for a buying account and risk having an address on ebay closer to my real one (if I lose it, I won't care, I'd get another buyer account), and not ever have to worry about the two accounts being linked since they will be operated from different computers with different IP addresses. Is this possible? If so, can someone give me some details?

aspkin 02-18-2007 06:21 PM

Sharing the same modem, the only way I can think of is using proxies or stealing your neighbor's wireless connection. If I could of had multiple IP's from one modem, I wouldn't have bought a second one. :)

avarshav 02-18-2007 06:30 PM

Will buying a second modem be required? Will that work with one ISP account? I don't think my ISP offers 2 IP's, so I'm trying to figure out a work around.

I have multiple computers, and I'm just looking for a way for one of them to be used as a buyers account, without have to worry about resetting cookies and resetting an IP address and what not. I really don't care if my buyer's account PC is not normally connected to the net.

I guess I just want a fool proof way to ensure one pc always gets a different IP address than another PC so that when my *wife* wants to buy something, she has less chance of screwing it up, catch my drift? I want to be able to say, use this PC for buying, use this PC for selling, and everything is cool.

aspkin 02-18-2007 06:41 PM

Well I use TWC Road Runner Cable. My ISP allowed me to purchase a second modem which when setup has a different IP address from the other modem I have. So one is connected directly to my main computer, and the other is connected to a router which feeds the other computers in the house. It's been a good setup.

avarshav 02-18-2007 07:08 PM

Yeah, I think my cable company allows me to only purchase a 2nd static IP. I like the flexibility of changing it easily without calling anyone, so I don't think it'd be for me.

Not to get all technical, but the router is what gets the IP address. If I hook my cable modem to a switch, and to that switch, I hook up one pc, and one router, and to the router I hook all my other PC's to that. Then, on my other main pc's hooked to the router, I operate normally, and when I want to buy something, I switch over to the computer that is on the switch and go from there and get a new IP address, will that work, or am I a dumbass?

aspkin 02-18-2007 07:46 PM

I failed my Cisco class by 3 points.. But from what I understand, your router only relays the modem ip and splits it to be shared to other computers. I forget what a switch does, thus failing Cisco.

They would still share the same IP address, but it would seem it would be easier to change your IP address, if your router doesn't screw it up.

aspkin 02-27-2007 12:39 PM

You would need to seperate the accounts by Ip address, and cookies. Don't use the same IP or have the same cookies loaded on your machine per accounts. If you can, you should use different computers to make it easier, and just make sure you're ip address are differen't.

can i have two seller accounts?

Hi,
I am selling two different types of merchandies and i want to seperate them into two different accounts. Am i allowed to have two different seller accounts on the same ip?

Jonas 05-16-2007 08:40 PM

This is a question you can ask ebay's livehelp. They've said yes. They've also said that I can even quit and restart a new account if I get bad feedback.

ebaysucks12345 05-16-2007 08:46 PM

so wut i am getting from you is.... that ebay says yes, but they still might suspend you anyway. just because they felt like it. ya? well if thats the case, im not surprised.

belerim 05-17-2007 05:43 PM

You can have as many accounts as you want using the same info and IP.
The problem is if they suspend one of the accounts the other one will be suspended too.

CPUGEEK 05-17-2007 09:13 PM

Yes Ebaysucks...

you can have more then 1 seller account. But keep in mind if 1 account gets suspended etc.. then the same will happen to the other account.

Thats why it's good to seperate the account ip address. meaning put the seller accounts on diffrent Ip's

You also need completely different info, too. eBay will link it anyway they can.

ebaysucks12345 05-25-2007 10:43 PM

so can i have as many seller accounts with different ips, info, cookies, etc on the same paypal account?

CPUGEEK 05-25-2007 11:21 PM

Like Aspkin said"You can but you'll be pushing it"

Not really if you do it correctly. As long as your ebay accounts are on different ips (not linked), and your Paypal account is not linked to your ebay accounts, then you'll be fine, have as many as you want.

One thing mentioned incorrectly is that your router gets the IP address, which is wrong. It is your modem that gets the IPs
