Multiple accounts using a public IP

Hey guys! Im back to stealth after taking a break from eBay for a few years. My questions is as follows:

So I already have a nice account up and running, but I am planning to get hopefully around 10 new ones up. At my university, we have a large library that gives us access to a wifi on campus.

I was wondering how many accounts I could safely set up on this net work? My school is one of the largest in the US with over 60,000 students.

Do you think eBay will link me or will I be okay using the library to set up numerous accounts. If I would be okay, what do you think the threshold would be?

Thanks guys!

Zero.

Pubblic WiFi is bad for your accounts.

Better get a private connection you have full control of.

P.S.: welcome to the forum :thumb:

IP addresses that you cannot control are never good. You dont know who else will be using them

You need to control and track the IP address!

This only exception to using public WiFi is if you are using dedicated VPN for each of your accounts.

Devils advocate...

How is tethering not considered public too?

If I have a verizon wireless phone and tether it I'm getting the same IP's as say someone else who is stealth that lives in my city. Now obviously the range of IP's is FAR greater than a public coffee shop but if two stealth users live in a small/medium city the IP range isn't always huge. Considering how when I tether I always reset the IP ....if there was say 3 stealth users in my city using the same connection how is it not feasible there could be a link too?

I mean if were saying a public coffee shop for instance is bad because someone could of have burned it, it shouldn't be THAT much of a stretch to think its possible someone is using the same IP's.

Yeah wouldn't recommend using public wifi as a long term solution at all, too many variables that can go wrong

not good for public IP, you should use privated IP. I think it's better

Hi, All. I, too, am back after an unplanned, extended break -- and, just when I was about to get started.

At any rate, my question is along the same lines (correct me if I'm wrong). Do accounts made using a public IP or a public computer have to be maintained in that same location/environment? I understand tracking IPs is a must regardless. But if I set up accounts using a public computer, at a later time, would I be able to manage those accounts from personal computer?

Thank you, in advance, for your reply. And, for all of the knowledge and resources you have shared here.

Sure if you wanted to, but making an account using a public IP in the first place is setting the account up to fail

Issue with the public IP is that OTHER accounts likely have existed on those networks and their activity, legit or not, could be very easily linked to yours...plus eb/paypal can identify easily these public ip addresses
