Best option for payment gateway

Hi, I posted a previous question in the wrong forum as I have just realized

Other then paypal, what is the best payment gateway that doesn't require the buyer to sign up for an account to pay for the item. And a payment link can be sent to the buyer. :ranger:

Stripe, Does exactly what your looking for, low fees also. you can also take payment over the phone and take their card details.

Is it possible to create a stealth stripe account like a stealth paypal account, I did contact them about a month ago, and their requirements are me submitting to them my Drivers license and so forth. Im not comfortable giving anyone that information.

Stripe is very safe, i dont have a problem giving them my details. Compared to paypal, theyre incredible. DOnt abuse their power and are actually reasonable

To get any real payment gateway and/or merchant account you will have to validate your identity, show at least 6 months sales history, get your credit checked, show your inventory is legal, etc.

It's a much more in depth process than setting up a Paypal account because merchant accounts give you a lot more power over payment processing. If the company you're applying with doesn't think you're trustworthy then they won't approve you. Giving false info to a merchant account provider (which is a financial institution) in the USA would constitute fraud.

I've never had LESS help from a company, than what Stripe offers with a chargeback. You're basically phucked with Stripe. At least Paypal will side with you if you follow their rules.

I'm not even sure why they request info about the order, because they don't help one damn bit in the process, nor do they cover it for you.

Hopefully other companies aren't as shiitty!

Sounds like Stripe is more like a traditional merchant account.

With my merchant account there's no following guidelines and hoping to be covered. I dispute chargebacks directly with the customers financial institution and hope for the best.

Re: Best option for payment gateway

Some dude did a chargeback for ~$300 that I got screwed out of. After that, I started digging through the transactions and saw were a payment from the same person failed for a $1200 order. Thank goodness... I would have been screwed and pissed! haha

I don't think I understand... the bold parts seem to contradict each other.

I had a feeling that would be misunderstood lol.

Paypal is great because of their seller protection policy. Sellers don't dispute chargebacks directly on Paypal. They provide all relevant information about a transaction to Paypal who disputes the chargeback with the customer's financial institution on the seller's behalf. I've seen Paypal chargebacks where the customer's financial institution will reach out to Paypal multiple times over several months for additional information, but the seller is never asked for additional info by Paypal. Paypal just does their best to dispute the chargeback based on what was initially provided by the seller.

When it's all said and done there are three possible outcomes:
1) The seller/Paypal win the chargeback and the funds are released back to the seller, but the seller is charged a $20 chargeback resolution fee
2) The seller/Paypal lose the chargeback but the funds are released to the seller since the seller followed seller protection guidelines. Seller is still charged a $20 resolution fee
3) The seller/Paypal lose the chargeback and the seller did not follow seller protection guidelines so they're debited the chargeback amount + $20 resolution fee

So you're charged $20 either way but if you've followed all of their seller protection guidelines, you can be credited back the original payment amount even if Paypal loses the chargeback.

In my merchant account, the middleman (PP) is eliminated and I attempt to resolve the chargeback directly with the customer's financial institution. I have to respond each time the customer's bank requests additional information or I lose the case. Paypal takes care of this back-and-forth with financial institutions when there is a Paypal chargeback, so the seller only responds to each PP chargeback once rather than having to check for updates in a merchant account.

At the end of the day if you fail to provide documentation deemed as "good enough" by the buyer's financial institution you lose the chargeback. The fees are lower in a merchant account, but TSYS isn't going to reimburse me for a chargeback since I shipped to the address on the eBay sales record.

Re: Best option for payment gateway

Well, that's a LOT better than what Stripe does for their customers. I'd much rather deal directly with the bank, than supplying Stripe with shipping info and then sitting around waiting for the "we don't really give a phuck about you" email.

I've had full-page, back-and-forth correspondences with them before, all day long, and it boiled down to them just not "going to bat" for their customers.

Luckily, chargebacks are few and far between.

Maybe I'll eventually check out TSYS.

Is Stripe even usable on eBay?

The only gateway's allowed on eBay US are : Paypal, Authorize.net, Payflow, and Cybersource.

I don't believe Stripe offers standalone merchant accounts which you could link to one of the approved gateways, so I don't see how you could use them (or Skrill for that matter).
