Merchant accounts benifts?

Wondering what are the benifts of opening a merchant account?
Is it hard to do?
Also what are the disadvantages to opening a merchant account?
And what are the best merchant accounts

if you use a merchant account on ebay can you still accept paypal too?

I have a good referral for a merchant account provider that includes Authorize.net built in. Very good rates, haven't had any problems. Message me for the info.

Benefits: Lots. No payment holds.
Disadvantages: Can't think of any.
