Default Revolution Money Exchange - Completely FREE paypal/google checkout clone

It's called Revolution Money Exchange and it's the newest online payment service to crop up. They don't even charge for using their service and even give you $25 for signing up and $10 for referrals. Wow sounds great. Is this a threat to paypal? Not even close. Everyone who signs up has to fork over their ssn! It's shocking simply shocking how ppl open these huge companies without even using basic common sense. Buyers are not going to fork over their ssn for $25 which is ending after February anyway. They'll just continue to use paypal. I don't understand how these companies always shoot themselves in the foot everytime doing something so stupid. Maybe after 6 months they'll realize how stupid a tactic this is. Even google had to give in and no longer make this a requirement for sellers, though they had to limit those accounts to $500. But for a company to make both buyers and sellers give up their ssn just to sign up is suicide.

I've edited it so it should be fixed now. I guess I didn't even bother to remember the url anymore.

It's a nice layout, and smooth signup process to.

Just got stuck on the registration process, need to find a US post code to match a state.

And, (l0l), just received an email from them saying they sent me $25. I guess that makes up for the sign up fee?

This company has an impressive Board of Directors, including Steve Case of AOL.

But if we're having problems with buyers making payments through a company like Google, imagine the pain of getting them to pay through an organization theyve never heard of.

Bad points

1) They require social security number.
2) They are bank account payment only.
3) They code in ASP, which is very slow, even slower than PHP. They should use C++ like eBay.

I've been a member with them for a while already, it would be nice if people paid that way.. They dont even have a buyer/seller dispute, its just basically for friends & family to send money to each other. And also it only works for people in the US.

A bunch of sellers on Etsy are using Revolution Money exchange, so I called RME to get into. The reason they need the ss# is because they are a company affiliated with a real bank in ND (I think) so banking regs. require the ss#. It is a money exchange - both parties have to have an RME account. There are no disputes, no chargebacks. All issues are handled directly between the people involved.

The money goes into your RME account and they can transfer it to your bank. They did not have a debit card available to access funds in your RME account but they were planning one soon.

They also have a Revolution Money Card that vendors take - like a credit card. They were signing up vendors like Target, Safeway, etc. to take the card. I think their vision leans towards a cash free society. Their $25 sign up fee reminded me of early days Paypal - PP paid me to open my account :-)

Not sure where RME is going but they have bank affiliation and don't seem like a scam. Worth watching.

There is a service Noca.com that they are starting up but it's largely in beta testing now.
