Is there any point in new UK ebayers signing up for merchant account?
 

Now that the new compulsory paypal rule has come in (or, at least soon...end of march supposedly), would there be any point in new United Kingdom ebayers opening a merchant account?

Well they do want the account linked, yes. Although, it just says, they want you to link to a VERIFIED account, so maybe you can just link to an account, and use CCnow?

I'd love to use CCnow, but they only accept US bank accounts to transfer money to :(

Treat yourself to a vacation to the US and do some banking then....

Well, I dunno, it just seems like there could be to many complications with a US bank account...?

If you can get your feedback to 100 then I think you can get around paypal.

If you have you offer paypal, be sure to write in big letters. "PAYPAL IS NOT PREFERRED. THAT IS A LIE EBAY AND PAYPAL PUT ON MY LISTING WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I ONLY OFFER IT BECAUSE EBAY FORCES EVERYONE FROM THE UK TO OFFER IT." You don't have to do the caps lock is cruise control for cool thing, but you get the idea.

mantis, actually there are not that many complications, trust me. {I use ebay,oops joke}.

jonas, have you actually done that on a listing? We did try that and the item did not sell even with fb of 80.

Yeah, apropos of the US bank account, I would totally love to do that. Does anyone know how a UK person can open a US bank account? The US market just seems to have so much to offer. Then I could us CCnow, iOffer, uBuy all of those US-centric sites, and just dropship from warehouses in america
