how do i create a merchant account in China?
 

hi
i came back china 6 month ago in order to do business with some third countries. i am having a problem now.
google checkout used to be perfect solution before, as all of you know, google checkout is closing down by November. so i tried to set up a new merchant account to take online payment. now the problem is coming. because i am in china, so all of merchant company turned me down because the ip address ( i still use my UK details: credit card, address, bank )
so anyone know how to do that ? i need a merchant account urgently.

China will never give a foreigner a merchant account, esp for internet trade. You first need to have a CN native to apply a business in there name and company then you to have a business of some kind, for POS transaction. After that they give you one for the physical shop, but online? Difficult, alipay is possible however you have to be a CN native to apply, or ask one your of CN buddies, but will they trust a foreigner?... Only know you this question :)
You need to seriously stop dreaming and be realistic esp when you dealing with CN, because many CN traders are very sharp mentality ))

I asked a merchant account company in China today(I didn't use them before and not too sure about their credibility). They said they would accept a foreigner to open a merchant account but their system is in Chinese.

They are no good, because they only accept Visa as a rule and sometimes they do not accept orders over 250usd and confirm all of the orders via telephone and sometimes the merchant as problems processing the cc because they have bugs in the merchant system or something. You need to seriously have a relationship with the acquiring bank on mainland or better still go to HK. On top of that they keep the money for 45 days and keep a 10% for 180 days for the Chargebacks. Ask them about these questions for the third party CC merchant accounts from mainland ;)

sounds terrible! I just know their fees are much higher than the merchant accounts in the US. Their rate is 5% per transaction. You know this so well. Did you try it before?
