RBC Bank + US Merchant Account = Does it work?
 

Hey guys,

I want to open a US merchant account (I got my ein/tax id), though I dont technically have a US bank. I know RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) US works with paypal, but does it work for credit card processing? They are both direct deposits right? Seeing how the ask for the same routing and account number.

Anyone ever used RBC USD account with an American merchant account?

Your best bet is to open a USA account. BMOHarris and TD Bank should be fine. The process takes about two/three weeks to complete and you will be set.

If you cross the boarder, you should be able to open a business account using the EIN.

@OP, while GoteBay is correct....if you know how to use the RBC US bank account for PP, the same method will work for American merchant account. Only difference is that the merchant service MAY see that you are trying to use a RBC Canadian-based account (if they do a manual review)

Yeah, it works with shopify/volusion since they rarely ever do manual checks, but for other merchants they all ask for a voided cheque.

Probably going to go to buffalo next week and open an account.
