How to identify the type of merchant a site is using?

Hello,

Is there a way to determine which merchant an ecommerce store is using?

For example, this random website; what is their payment gateway/merchant processor?

https://www.katespade.com

I know the site is using demandware (platform, i dont think platform has their own processing account) by looking at their url, and some have the SSL certificate but if that wasn't there how else would I determine it?

BTW: the reason why I am asking is because Im trying to get a merchant account here in Canada and all the ones I googled said No so far, however I see other sellers in Canada selling the same product with a Canadian merchant but I dont know which one they are using.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you! :)

Ummm.... If you are going to ask a merchant account provider to allow you to sell brand name merchandise like Kate Spade, you will need to prove that your supplier is legitimate and that your items are authentic.

Katespade.com can pick from a dozen merchant account providers. YOU, however will find it tough going, as many of them will assume you are selling counterfeits.

Sorry I couldn't be more positive.

If the items are chinese specials you may have issues.

Are they?

Do you have your own website?

I went through their checkout process but it wasn't very forthcoming with details. It's an integrated credit card checkout. You may want to contact them and ask.. you may get lucky with information.

If it's demandware, then ask them what payment gateways they support. That may give you a clue as well.

Yeah, I think im just gonna go personal and just ask the sites and/or selling platforms themselves.

Thanks aspkin.

P.S. As for the other people responding, katespade is just a random site literally googled 2 seconds before posting.

The products are not counterfeit (or clothing related at all) they are just in the grey area in Canada.

I can easily get an American merchant for it (atleast every american merchant I called said yes), but I rather not. Regardless my company still going to go to chicago and open a bank and an address there.
