stripe chargeback and return question
 

Has anyone delt with chargebacks and stripe?

I'm assuming they will close your account if too many build up. In addition, since the stripe account has banking account information like routing and account numbers, will the bank also take action? Can the bank close your account?

I am selling vero items.

Stripe will close your account if you have a chargeback rate of more than 1%. Because this is a real merchant account, it will be reported to the credit card networks and you may have tons of trouble opening new accounts in the future.

i have been using stripe now for a few monthes no problems


i would highly recomend if someone isnt happy just refund the money

not worth the hastle of charge back.

Just to give people some hope, I opened a stripe account around 2015, and my chargeback has crept up from 1% to approx 2.7%

The latter figure being around there for the last 18 months. I thought the account would be closed, im guessing they are busy, or figure i sell enough to be of interest to keep on. Although i am a bit surprised myself.

I do have fairly good ip login information for the actual product, so they know people are getting their product in good time.

However being digital information, the chargebacks can be brutal - anyone just wanting their money back, can ring their bank after they have cherry picked the information they want.

I dont know exactly of the new changes that has occured this year in April, maybe someone can shed some light on their tighter scutiny... (encase i have to go stealth)
