Limited due to just linking same name??
 

I had an ebay account and paypal account in my actual name and actual address a year ago. I guess ebay suspended me ( I dont remember why) I stopped using paypal. Paypal had 180 dollar neg balance I never paid.

I moved to a new state. I set up a new ebay and paypal account. All new info EXCEPT my actual name. New address in different state. New IP, new formatted laptop with VM ware. New emails etc. Ebay is at 5000 a month for 2 months no issues.
Today,, I get an email stating my paypal account is limited due to being linked to another account. If I pay the negative balance in other account, it will be in good standing. The money isnt the issue. Im curious which option to go with

1: Pay the negative from the other account and see how long it lasts? OR
2: Show proof I live in different state and say the linked account never belonged to me and play dumb like Im a new paypal user?

Nothing else matches up except they are guessing with the same name.

I can get a new license and verify new address.

If they linked your account this mean they have strong evidence
By simply saying it's not your account don't think will work
On other side if you pay the balance they still may not restore as you breached terms and conditions due to multiple accounts

There is absolutely no other way they could link it. Unless they are linking by computer fingerprint

I think Im just gonna call and say its my cousins account with the same name in different state but Ill pay it. I really dont know which option.

Did you use the same name and date of birth or just the same name?

If you used the same name and date of birth then that is how they linked you.

I NEVER give my date of birth to paypal

UPDATE: I appealed it last Wed saying it was my cousin and he lives in a different state since one is in CA and one in AZ. Today I call up. Appeal denied due to similar name and similar selling habbits. All crap because ALL the items I have been selling are completely different.
I just paid the 200 dollar balance and limites were lifted.
Only time will tell if Ebay is alerted to the 2 PP accounts being linked I guess.

Kinda crappy that they have the power to do that just on matching a name. If I had the patience, Id just file a lawsuit but not worth the 200 I paid in time or trouble.

Ill update if my ebay account gets suspended due to this

I didn't think it was possible to open a Paypal account without giving a date of birth.

Ebay certainly don't require a date of birth when you register.

I think it varies by country. UK PayPal has always asked for that information regardless of account type.

As parsierngue has pointed out, the registration requirements differ from country to country. Many EU (probably all of them) and UK Paypal require a date of birth to register an account.

I wasn't aware that one wasn't required for US Paypal.

Quick hint..... start looking at the FLAG of a poster and then be aware their experiences may differ but their knowledge is still OK.

That was a very big mistake to make the new account under same name. You should have made the account under new name! Paypal just punished you for making your own mistake!
