| highwhey | 04-08-2009 05:03 PM | Quick Question on Paypal I'm selling my laptop on some forums, anyways, as usual the buyer wants to deal with Paypal. I have a legit Paypal account, although there's currently a hold on $500 because of a person paying me for my services and then attempting to get a refund. Should I accept payment for my laptop on this account or not?(seems risky) Payment amount will be $1,700. Thanks. |
JohnnyBoy | 04-08-2009 06:29 PM | Very risky to accept that kind of money with paypal looking at your account.. How long is that $500 hold going to last. Heck, it would take 4 months to withdraw that $1700! |

This buyer is really wanting to pay via Paypal, although you are right, it will take 4 months to withdraw all this money. Not in my best interest to wait that long. Thanks.
BTW: I will be getting a CC from a gas station to lift the $500 monthly limit, since I already verified the Bank Account, the CC is all I need. Should I take the risk? |
Yes, lift the limit with cc..It takes 30 seconds to do that. Tell the buyer to make payment again after your limit is taken care of. |
GreenBean | 04-08-2009 08:30 PM | ^^^Would you 'risk' the account so soon after it has had a $500 limit fixed? This is a bit of a Catch22. Highwey could lose a good sale or get the sale and get limited .... needs to be considered carefully. |
I did that, lifted limit and two weeks later had over $2000 in sales I could withdraw into my account, no limit except 21 day hold..but I sent out stuff immediately and got feedback 3 days later, so I was fine. |
My PP was opened in August 07, so maybe that's why.. If its newer account, I'd be more careful, correct. |
GreenBean | 04-08-2009 09:00 PM | The main thing is many possibilites have been mentioned so that should help.:thumb: |
Yea, I was little reckless doing this, I admit....but that's the account I got second $500 limitation since it was opened.. (I could never figure this out.. why).
I knew they were going to hit me with 21 day hold..but that was ok, since I could take all of money out of there. But, I didn't take it ALL at one time.....it was over 7 days, and was sweating all that time. LOL!:sweat: |
highwhey | 04-09-2009 09:51 AM | Looks like I will take the risk anyways. After lifting the limit of course. After I receive the money I should print out a label quickly and ship the same day, hopefully my buyer will leave me positive feedback on Paypal and everything will go smooth. |
Yea, I think you will be fine...as long you know to who you are shipping to. I send buyers an email letting them know that I shipped(usually the same day) and kindly ask they leave feedback as soon as they receive the package. I also give them tracking number in the same email. Most of them are thankful for that and will not forget to leave your well deserved good feedback right away. So, after they do, your 21 day hold is usually gone the next day.:ranger: |

Although it's a bit of a disappointment that even with a legit PP account, you still have to fear being limited. Have a great day guys! |
yaw1800 | 04-09-2009 12:35 PM | if your paypal account is legit, you shoul dhave no problem using the plug-in as well..
One thing i noticed with the plug-in also is that it does indeed require your social, but they state that they WILL NOT run a credit check... |
