PayPal is a Joke!

I got my PayPal account restored yesterday, provided all the documents they asked for, tonight i get this email:

"Hello PayPal User,

We recently noticed an issue with your account.

What's the problem?

Lately, we've noticed you've been accepting payments for goods and/or
services that are a significant change from the items you sold previously.
We need to better understand these changes and how they relate to your
business. Please take action by 3/1/2017 to prevent a disruption to your
PayPal service.

Because of this issue, your account has been permanently limited. We
understand this may be frustrating and inconvenient but you'll still be
able to see your transaction history for a limited time.

You can get more details about your account limitation in the Resolution
Center. For more information, please contact us and we'll do our best to
help.

You'll be able to withdraw money from your account within 180 days. We'll
email you when it's available. We just want to make sure that you have
money in your account to cover any payment reversals."

not only that they turned around and screwed me over and cancelled the $1000 i transferred to my bank account, I've had it with PayPal that is it, no more doing business with them, now i have $2500 stuck in the PayPal account that i cant even use, Im getting a merchant account tired of PayPal and there games!

Lesson: never leave anything you cannot afford to lose... Paypal will f*ck you over eventually, that's a 100% guarantee

Re: PayPal is a Joke!

Why didn't you use a merchant account instead? PP is too risky.

*They're

Good luck on the merchant account. I've been in the process of setting one up for the past 2 weeks. Hopefully I'll have one one day...

Re: PayPal is a Joke!

I'd be terrified to receive anything over $100 in pp which is why I use pp for websites outside of the eb realm. How is it I am approved for merchant accounts and you aren't?

Be prepared for several weeks worth of paper work and conversations with whatever bank will host your merchant account. I can say for certain you won't have anything ready to go "today". I started around the 1st and am still in the process. Had my "gateway" with authorize.net set up in 5 minutes, but the actual merchant account has been another story. There's an approval process where they look into your business practices, your credit, your background, etc. All of this has definitely helped me gain more of an appreciation for the convenience of Paypal.

@BL - Absolutely nothing wrong with receiving large payments on a good Paypal account, though I can see where you're coming from. You may be "approved" to open a merchant account with your bank, but I'm betting it would take at least a few days to get everything setup if you were to take that route.

Re: PayPal is a Joke!

Just out of curiosity, who will you be using for your merchant account and your payment gateway Chris?

I chose to open a merchant account with Wells Fargo since that's where my bank account is for this particular business, then my payment gateway is with authorize.net. From what I understand, authorize.net offers both payment gateways and merchant accounts but I chose Wells Fargo for the MA due to a more competitive fee structure. They offered me wholesale interchange pricing, which I've come to understand is a good thing lol.

Re: PayPal is a Joke!

I have always been able to open a merchant account in a couple hours at my old retail stores. I dont see what the holdup would be.

Paypal is not a joke. They offer better protection on chargebacks than any merchant account I have ever dealt with. Merchant accounts are just as likely to hold your funds for 90-180 days if they dont like your activity or dollar amounts as well.

Re: PayPal is a Joke!

Perhaps I'll shop elsewhere after the holiday weekend because the company I've chosen has been a headache so far. I don't have any brick & mortar stores. Most of the paperwork has been to more or less prove I own a retail business with credit card processing needs, and to show the volume I process to determine what kind of rates they can offer.

*Noted*

Thanks yankee. I'm not a fan of the impossible to find scroll bar on their website. I may give them a shot soon though...

Re: PayPal is a Joke!

yes my Bank is Bank Of America, they offer merchant accounts i may go this route, also PayPal isnt the best when it comes to Drop Shipping which is all i do

GreenBean 01-16-2017 04:42 PM

Re: PayPal is a Joke!

Do not expect your merchant account to be a bigger fan of drop shipping either.

Re: PayPal is a Joke!

I dont see it being a problem with them, as long as my customers get there orders on time.

Re: PayPal is a Joke!

If you're just dropshipping, do you even own a business?

Marketing company. Super disliked term for banks, lenders, payment processors and the IRS currently.

Well I wish you the best, pal. Have you had any luck getting a merchant account setup?

BTW, am I supposed to have a business license? I've been under the impression that's only required for brick/mortar stores.
