PayPal Limited, asking for SSN
 

My PayPal got Limited, and they for invoices and tracking numbers and SSN,

I sent all the documents today but instead of SSN I provided my EIN.
now paypal emailed me saying they want SSN not EIN.
What can I do?

Is this a stealth account?

If this is just your personal account and it's limited, just give them your SSN.

If this is stealth, and they are asking for SSN#....time to start using another account.

Sounds like this account has been flagged for one reason or another, probably would cost a lot of trime and or money to get it back up and running. Unless very valuable to you, I would move on to another (hopefully) other stealth accounts waiting to be used.

Its stealth but the ebay account that it was receiving payment for was valuable and had high limits.
Does PP have means to verify a SSN,(if I gave my real SSN so obviously names won't match but the number will be valid)

Verifying just counts as a "soft check" since you aren't applying for loan or services - those usually result in a "hard check" and a credit hit...that being said, why would you want PP having your SSN on file....?

OP wants to save the PP account because he said the eB@y account was valuable, so I'm guessing he wants to give a valid ssn to save the account.
BUT if the ssn doesnt match the stealth name it wont work.

It has to be a valid SSN.

I would suggest calling in and trying to get them to remove the SSN requirement from your limitation. Explain you are not comfortable giving out sensitive information like that and ask if there are any alternatives. It has worked for me in the past where they will remove the requirement for SSN but still require me to submit the other docs to lift the limitation. Worth a shot since you seem to really value this account.

What? I just bought an stealth account and PayPal is asking me for ssn document, it means I lost my inversion???

If to buy SSN which is in the same name and the same DOB as a stealth account, will it work? Or do they check something else like address too?

you cant buy a SSN,
if you dont live in USA,did you open a US based Paypal account?
then they want SSN from you.
Calling Paypal would do no good.
see if you can connect your VALUABLE ebay account to another PAYPAL account or stop using PAYPAL

In the past I added my wifes ssn to a different name on paypal and there were no issues whatsoever

Don't be so sure the SSNadded has any impact.
Try to add funds to the paypal account from the bank and see if it allows you to do that. My bet is you will be asked for DOB and SSN verification. try to use that info THEN and youll fail and the account will be limited.

They can lookup, as we can, if the SSN is genuine, what state it was issued in and what years that number was issued in. Other than that they can do a credit check which would reveal the name, however it would show on Karma etc if they did that (even a soft check) and I have not heard of any body who has reported a credit check by PayPal.
