PayPal can see your bank account name?!
 

Ok. So my 180 days are up. 20k+ sitting in the account (I know, I'm stupid, please don't give me grief over it).
Phoned PayPal this morning, they said it needed to be escalated before it could be payed out.
I wait, email at 4pm asking for more ID. They had a stealth one, rejected, no choice but to upload my real passport and all my company information. Stealth name is variation of my own name.
PayPal magically remove the linked bank account on the account at 3pm, just before I call in.
Was told "we removed your account because it was in your personal name, and not your business name"
I never said to anyone what name was on the bank account.
Can they check names on bank accounts now?

Have uploaded another version of my ID. Legit drivers licence this time.

I can't speculate how it works in the UK, but here in the US, if you have ever added money to your PP account FROM your bank account, they see the name then.

Never put any money into PayPal from any bank account. Nor did I withdraw, as you can see from the sheer blooming amount [emoji31]🤣

What do you mean? Sorry, was ages ago when I put the bank account on there. 3+ years.

Did you do the micro-deposit method? I'm not sure what they offer in the UK, sorry.

I can't say this is the case with non-US banks or not, but with a USA bank it's certainly possible for PP to see the name on the bank account if the micro-deposit verification is used. This is because when they take back (debit) the two small deposits from the account, they retrieve these details.

I've had this confirmed once by a PP rep as well as my own banker at Wells Fargo in the business unit.

That said, it's not clear IF PP will act or do anything if the names on the bank don't match. It probably depends on other factors (such as ID issues) the OP is experiencing as well.

In Australia they don't debit back the test deposits.

interesting, recently when cashing some limited paypals........i was wondering why they removed the VCC and bank account i had on some of my accounts probably because they knew it wasn't a real cc and it was clearly a prepaid card.

All cards/bank accounts have a set of numbers that ID the type of card.

Are you sure the VCC had no funds on it and that is why it got removed?

Regarding the name being seen by Paypal UK, the name is known to them. Circumstances are the same as USA and Australia & in non-English paypal platforms.

Majority 0f the time nothing happens. With limitations, any account 0n any platform is looked at closely.

It is paypal after all.

the VCC had no funds on it.........

for 20k stuck in uk paypals. i am not surprised that they are really nitpicky about giving you the money......if its a stealth account.....kiss the account goodbye i heard UK will just completely deny you even with "creative" documents...........

Don't underestimate PayPal's abilities to know what type of card you have linked.

The BIN of the card can tell them not only what bank issued the card, but the region and TYPE of card issued by a given bank.

IIN / BIN. The first 6 or 8 digits of a payment card number (credit cards, debit cards, etc.) are known as the Issuer Identification Numbers (IIN), previously known as Bank Identification Number (BIN). These identify the institution that issued the card to the card holder.

PayPal definitely knows some BIN's are higher risk than others, or a "problem". This is why I tend to be rather picky about who I get my VCC's from. Some VCC sellers give out cheap Asian BIN's issued in Russia or Vietnam. They may appear to work, but in the long run PayPal knows they are a risk.

Paypal CAN and DOES see the name when you pay with a bank account or even add a bank account with micro deposit.

Now up until this point, they never have done anything with this information.

I reguraly pay my ebay fees from bank accounts with miss matched names for years. I also send funds with paypal from checking accounts(Instant bank transfers) from miss matched bank names for close to two decades. No issues.

You can only use a bank account with 1 Paypal account. Ever.

The receipt returned back to PP indicating the funds were accepted and deposited includes a great deal of tracking info including the account holders name.

At this point they don't seem to do anything with that info. Unless, of course, a human looks at these data points when there's a problem.

And like we are all trying to tell you, they MOST CERTAINLY CAN see the name on the bank account when they pull the money back out of the account.

Then you for sure dont understand this very well know fact. Paypal does and always has seen your name when taking funds out of your checking account. They still up until this day never used that info for anything. This is fact.
