| | | bchen5476 | 05-03-2018 07:23 PM | paypal limited due to "stolen item" so i recently sold a laptop on ebay. i bought the laptop from craigslist and just feel like selling it after. long story short, the original purchaser who purchased this laptop did a chargeback so the ebay customer who bought the laptop from me, her Apple ID got locked.
apple is asking her to return the laptop or pay the laptop. I then tell her to return the laptop to me and i will refund her, which i think its reasonable. She wouldn't. she opened a dispute on paypal and keep telling me to pay apple, i told her it isn't my fault and i aint paying for her. She wants to dispute the money and keep the laptop and have apple charge me.
paypal has now limited my account telling me to upload my ID, proof of address, shipping info and invoice. "invoice" which i do not have since it's from craigslist.
any suggestion? |

That's a tough one. It's down to the guy who sold you the laptop. That guy is the thief and now you're holding the bag.
Where in the multiple of problems you posted are you looking for suggestion? |

| SaiJin | 05-04-2018 11:40 AM | Re: paypal limited due to "stolen item" I understand the view from both you and your buyer. This is a tricky one and as much as we hate this, it's really you that needs to do something.
Go to eBay, pull up the buyer's phonenumber and attempt to talk to him with a solution.
THen Immediately go after the laptop seller. I hope you know where he lives and his phone. |

| dallis | 05-04-2018 06:29 PM | Re: paypal limited due to "stolen item" You're screwed on the PP end, probably.
As for the rest:
You have her money, she has a nonfunctional laptop. I'm guessing the cost of unlocking it is greater than what you sold it for, otherwise you'd have taken the less expensive option, true?
You had to know something was wrong with this deal somewhere along the way.
You sold stolen goods. I'm thinking you're not going to get it back unless she wants to give it to you. I'm guessing you're going to lose your money, the laptop, and your PP account. |

| sarah74 | 05-07-2018 04:38 AM | Re: paypal limited due to "stolen item" What really confusing is how does she want you to "Pay" apple?
that makes no sense? |
| SaiJin | 05-07-2018 02:22 PM | Re: paypal limited due to "stolen item" Here's my take... I'd force her to return the item to you through PP.
Paypal will need her to return the item to you first before they refund the money from your account.
And I'm assuming this thing is over $500, she'll have to use signature confirmation as well. |

| cafonabob1 | 05-11-2018 11:29 AM | Re: paypal limited due to "stolen item" Don't worry. This is not unusual. Just agree to the refund if she sends it back. Ask paypal to escalate the case. State clearly you agree to a refund, here is the shipping address, here is the return label..... Paypal will give 10 days, etc.. to send it back. If she does not send it back then she does not get a refund
Right now it is her laptop so if she wants to keep it she can keep it. She can use it for a desk clock, she can use it for a flashlight or a cutting board. It is her laptop. If she wants to return it to you for a refund then she must return it to you for a refund. But at this point it is her laptop and if she doesn't feel comfortable sending it back then better for you.
Let me guess. Customer has a Delaware shipping address with funny letters after it? Most likely in country Georgia |

Where in the multiple of problems you posted are you looking for suggestion? | Paypal will not refund you, all the buyer has to say is he/she returned it to the police. Contact apple if its not too late to confirm. Call paypal if apple agrees that its not stolen and you should get the cash back.
ask the buyer for a photo of the serial number and all that info you need. |
