Paypal Asking To Upload Invoices
 

Just got my Paypal account limited, they're asking for a photo ID and invoices. I part out motorcycles and sell the parts on Ebay/CL/Facebook Marketplace. I buy the bikes locally and pay cash so I don't have any "invoices" to upload. Do I need to call them and explain my situation?

Like everyone else has said, calling in and trying to explain what you do is your only option. Plenty of people part out bikes and cars so you've got a pretty good chance of getting by with just your ID, or maybe nothing.

Automotive parts are a high risk category with a surprising amount of counterfeits polluting the marketplace, which is why they're requesting more info about who you are and what you're selling.

Hmmmm.... just thinking outside the box, do you have any kind of mechanical certification?

If I were you and I had those, I'd offer it to them as well.

I called them today and they told me that my photo ID was sufficient. I explained that I typically don't get bills of sales from private sellers when I purchase the bikes and pay cash. One CSR said she would "escalate" my case to the appropriate department possibly lifting the limitation today yet but I haven't received a notification from them yet and my account is still limited.

Sure is hard to make an honest living (or supplemental income in my case) these days!

As you seem to run a legit business, just call them and tell them you buy bikes for cash, so no invoices. This might be a solution, as being creative with documents might end bad without proper experience.

Update: My account has been restored! Guess I'll hold off on the whole stealth account thing for now, lol.

I know you probably won't, but it's still a good time for you to go stealth. You now know how fragile your eBay existence is. You could be taken down again with the click of a CSR's mouse.

Not to mention that if you had 3 accounts doing the volume your 1 account is doing now, you'd be selling 3x more things and making 3x more money.

I have been wanting to ask this question: If my real account is doing ok with ebay, and i go ahead to get a couple stealth accounts, will this not also put my real accounts at risk i.e if my stealth accounts are linked and shut down, will this not also cause my real account to be shut down? I already got fresh/ dedicated IPs form IP burger, but i am still scared about this. Any tips to ensure this doesn't happen?
