Please help! PayPal limited due to sending a few payments VIA vanilla gift cards
 

Hello,

I sent 4 separate payments to my friend VIA legit vanilla visa gift cards .
The payments were: $100. $50. $50. $112.
And a payment of $351.13 from my PayPal balance.

I was purchasing e-gift cards from her and sent all of the payments as “friends and family” with nothing written in the notes section.

This is the type of limitations I received in the pictures below.

What should I say on the part(first photo) where it says
“provide a full description of what the payment was for”? What’s the best thing you suggest? Any experienced fellow PayPal users?

And would it be accepted if I provide a screenshot of the statement of the vanilla visa gift card directly from the website?


She called them and regarding the gift payments, she told them:
“I performed programming development services for you.”

Meanwhile, I haven’t filled anything out yet.

If anybody can offer the best successful advice, I’d be willing to pay. I just need your help and expertise in resolving this, as this is my legit personal account that I use to make sales and pay my bills.

I'm not sure where you get this, but this is untrue. Tell them the truth and they'll say "ok, you are good to go" ? It's paypal we are talking about.

OP, you aren't supposed to be using the friends and family that often. Maybe once in a while. And if you tell them you are making purchases, you'll be booted for good.

YOu need to tell them that you are sending money to a friend or family to help.
Period.

Given the fact that your partner has already told Paypal that these payments were for services, I highly doubt you'll be able to recover the account even if you upload everything they want. They call it tax evasion and/or fee circumvention when you use F&F payments for commercial transactions, and they really don't like it.

All you can really do is upload your Vanilla CC statement 6 times like they're asking, and then try to explain the transactions in a way that doesn't involve commercial payments at all. There's no telling if they made a note about what your partner said (about them all being commercial transactions).

Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about. Thanks! Do you think I should say each payment was sent for bills, trips, family emergency etc. Also by them saying “Provide a full description of what the payment was for” do they mean a paragraph based or just a simple sentence of a written description?

This is my first time dealing with this type of limitation so I’m stuck

I think the only explanation that would technically meet the definition of "Friends and Family" payments would be family emergency. But you would have to get creative trying to explain why this emergency required multiple payments over time.

If it were bills you would be paying for a service. Same case if you were going on a trip.

I don't think it matters if you write 1 sentence or an entire novel. They just want an explanation that makes sense and doesn't violate their TOS.

The reason they're strict about this is F&F payments aren't included on 1099K's when they are sent out so taxable income is going unreported. It's also a common way for sellers to scam buyers since F&F payments aren't covered by Paypal's buyer/seller protection programs. On top of all that Paypal doesn't make their cut since there's no fee on F&F payments. Just wanted to take a minute and explain why they are strict about this - and why you got limited.
