Canadian PP limited - asks for tax documents

Hello,

So I have this Canadian stealth PayPal (Business) where I received some money from a freelancing agency. I only spent the balance, to pay for various online services & stuff.

Recently, I received a larger amount in 3 transactions (1000$+), and my PayPal got limited. They asked for ID + proof of address, however, when I open the dropdown list for the "Proof of address" part, this is what I see:
  1. Statement from Canada Revenue Agency
  2. Tax return/assessment
  3. Student record statement
  4. Canada Revenue Agency tax receipt

Is this normal? I thought I will be asked for a simple electricity bill, or something along the line...

I managed to spend most of the money in the account...should I stop using it, or did anyone have success fixing a limitation like this?

That limitation is just normal, they just want to verify your identity since you've receive that high amount in a short period of time.
You can try your luck and send 'creative docs'.

I feel a little bit of irony in that "good luck", haha...
I'm really unable to provide those docs, so I guess I'll just throw this account out...

Should be ok - in general - for withdrawal after 180 days

Have you ever bumped into the same issue with a Canadian stealth account?
Is this the same for personal accounts too?
Maybe I've made the stupid mistake in choosing a business account instead of a personal one...

Even though it asks for tax documents, they accept utility bills as well. Just drop down, select any of those and upload an utility bill instead. It should work.
I received an email from PayPal saying that they accept utility bills as proof of address.

Re: Canadian PP limited - asks for tax documents

@tiffany.nguyen thanks but under proof of address you have only options for tax statement, NOA, everything to do with tax....under financial information you have the utility option...am i missing something here? thanks

Re: Canadian PP limited - asks for tax documents

It doesn't matter what they have in the dropdown. Here's the email from PayPal that I got:
"Identity confirmation:
----------------------------------------------

- Please provide any two of the below listed documents for the following individuals:  •Tiffany Nguyen
  •Proof of Identity
  •Proof of Address
  •Proof of Financials

----------------------------------
Acceptable document types:
----------------------------------
As Proof of Identity, we can accept one of the following documents showing your full name and date of birth:

  • Government issued photo ID
  • Statement from your insurer (life, home or auto)
  • Statement of CPP contributions from My Service Canada account.

Please note: At this time, we can only accept a color scan of a government issued photo ID. For documents other than photo ID, your most recent statement is required. The same document cannot be provided as both Proof of Identity and Proof of address.

As a Proof of Address, we can accept your most recent statement for one of the following:

  • Notice of assessment/reassessment, municipal property tax assessment
  • Canada Revenue Agency statement (e.g. requirement to pay, instalment notice or benefits statement). At this time, we cannot accept CRA forms filled by a customer (e.g. T1 form), please provide a document returned to you by CRA.
  • Financial Statement or Student Record from registered Canadian College or University (post-secondary institution)
  • A statement issued by a recognized government agency
  • T4 or employment statement
  • Utility bill. We can accept electricity bill, gas bill, water bill, telephone/cellular bill.
  • Government issued Photo ID.

Please note, we require two separate documents as Proof of Address and Proof of Identity. If you have previously provided a government issued photo ID as a Proof of Identity, please upload a different document to confirm your address.

As a Proof of Financials, we can accept your most recent statement for one of the following:

  • Bank statement
  • Credit card statement
  • Loan account statement
  • Letter from a financial entity holding deposit account, credit card or loan statement.

DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • The  document must be fully visible showing your full name and address as registered on your PayPal account, as well as the issuer's logo.
  • Monthly statements should be issued within last 60 days. For annual statements, provide the most recent document.
  • Documents with PO Box addresses can be accepted if it also contains a physical address.
  • We cannot accept blank/complete cheques."

So feel free to select anything from the dropdown and upload one of the accepted documents.

Permanently?

Re: Canadian PP limited - asks for tax documents

Not yet. Just 4 steps. They ask me for my ID, bank statement, explanation of my business activities and explanation to my account activities.
Every single time they ask for these I end up being permanently limited. Damn it!

I have 5 PayPal accounts. The one they ask for Proof of Address is for Identity Verification. The funny thing is tax document is issued once a year only and I recently moved. After receiving that email from PayPal, I uploaded my BCHydro bill and my identity was confirmed. And now that same account is temporarily limited as I received 2 big payments.
