Paypal STOLE $5000 from me [AUP Violation??]

Long story short, last year my Paypal account was limited.

This year the funds were available for withdrawal sometime in February. Today I finally logged on to add a bank account, but I see I have $0 in balance. I know I had over $5000. I check my transaction history and see a $5000 transaction to "Paypal", transaction type appears to be "Correction", and under Memo it says the following:

"PayPal Posting Date:Mar <redacted>, 2020;Payment to:Paypal;PayPal's damages caused by Acceptable Use Policy violation;."

My account getting limited crazy enough, as I'm pretty sure aside from a higher than normal Chargeback risk I was doing nothing wrong. But now my ENTIRE BALANCE was stolen from me and sent to Paypal as an AUP violation "fee".

What the heck? What are my options here? I've already emailed support and executive office, but judging by previous experience they are not going to help one bit.

I’m sorry to hear you’re funds were taken but this is expected behavior from PayPal when an account becomes limited.

no,this is not expected behavior for limited account,Paypal AUP violation costs $2500 per violation,so review the policy and find out if you have violated any .
why did you wait 3 months to look into your account?

I didn't have a bank account ready to go until now.

No idea what AUP violation I broke. Either I got careless once and got caught multi-accounting (it's possible but unlikely), or they really did not like selling gaming accounts but decided to only take action after 180 days for some reason.

Like I said it’s expected behavior now. It’s happening to a lot of people I know.

Yeah I saw the megathread after I posted this. Read the first few pages then skipped to the end. Are there any proposed solutions or people managing to get their money back?

I don’t know of any solutions and people are not getting anything back.

The AUP list is long,pyramid scheme,ponzi scheme,multi level marketing,offshore banking,credit repair,insurance etc etc,get rich quick scheme??

I read through the list, and I did nothing that is directly prohibited by that list.

Anyways, my plan is to keep on bugging them. Emails, BBB disputes, and so on until they hand over the money.

LOL good luck with that, but going forward keep very low amounts in your paypal, if you don't have a bank attached then attach one or don't use it.

Please keep this post updated and share your progress. I wouldn't say this isn't a bad idea, but did you try calling them? I know the phone lines are closed now for most of us but a few months back they weren't and that seems like it would be the most effective. I only ask this because I know most people have some type of fear with speaking with them over the phone for some reason. Never heard of something like this until today. Hope it isn't heading over to any of my limited accounts.

I've been sticking with Twitter and emails for now. Haven't bothered with the phone yet (given that they say the lines are closed) but would have no problem doing so if they are open.

Will keep ya'll posted on this thread.
