Sending money as "Personal: Gift"?

About a year ago, I sent money from one PayPal account (independent computer/IP/not linked to any other accounts) to another which was was only about 2-3 weeks old, and was verified with CC and Bank info - no limits. I sent it as a payment for services because I completely forgot about the "Gift" option - shortly after trying to withdraw around $1,700.00 the account got limited... saw that coming so it wasn't really a surprise. It was limited for suspicious activity and PayPal just wanted more info about the high figure payments I had received recently. Now, my question is - if I were to have sent that money as a "Gift" and not a "Payment," would PayPal still care, or would they care as much?

tbh, they might care. Certainly some 'gifts' will go thro but that payment you 'need' will be caught. I 'vary' payments: never the same type. As the ultimate insult, they queried a donation to a registered Charity. It was resolved but so rude.

One thing to keep in mind paypal will sometime limit new accounts for receiving more than $500. also i received $3000 and $2000 via gift payment waited an entire day and i still got limited....so best to keep it at a small amount.hopefully this helps.
