Limitation and new accounts

I have a 180 day hold at present and emailing them threatening legal action to release the funds.

Every time an email is sent, your email is forwarded to the Limitation review team. During this review which takes 24-48 hrs, I assume they are taking a close look at your account, perhaps looking for linked accounts?

Has anyone opened a new account during this review process or would it be best to wait until the decision email is sent in 24-48 hrs time and let the dust settle?

better to wait... and dont open a newer account with the same info...

Always, always have a backup account handy.

Although, if you start selling on this one the minute your old one goes down, this will look bad, double that if it's the same items.

I agree. It looks far less suspicious when you use an account that was set up BEFORE yours was suspended.

Also, on new accounts, I find it pays to list a few items for sale that are NOT favored by counterfeiters and that have NO VERO issues. Paperback books, comics, a couple of figurines you pick up at the dollar store, or whatever you have laying around. Just don't list anything that eBay views as high-risk.

This helps you get a little feedback and adds to a sense of legitimacy to your account.
