Limited/closed account- security issues help!

Hi Everyone,

Once I sent in my SSN info. I got this from Paypal listed below. While they requested all this information beforehand like Invoices, ID, and so on. How can I beat this and get my account reinstated. I am in Shanghai China right now and have been accessing my account. I am really pissed also that they put restriction on my eBay account. Basically I really getting a beating from these guys.

The question I am asking:

1) How can I get my account back online and remove the limitations?
2) How can I get the person name Jay from Paypal in trouble, this guy seems like a genuine a**hole?
3) What are some good ways to approach them?
4) Any other advice?

I also have like over 1k stuck in that account. I really need the money for grad school.

For the safety and security of the PayPal network, we often review accounts
for potential risks. After reviewing your account, we have decided to close
it because of security issues.

We are making every effort to minimize any disruption to your business.

If your PayPal account balance is zero, and you have no unresolved buyer
complaints or chargebacks, your account will remain limited.

-----------------------------------
Disbursement options
-----------------------------------

Option 1. If you owe refunds to any of your buyers, you can use the money
in your PayPal account to refund them.

To refund your buyers:
1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click "Contact Us" at the bottom of any page.
3. Click "Contact Customer Service."
4. Under "Choose a Topic," select "Sending/Receiving Money."
5. Under "Choose a Subtopic," select "Refund/Cancel a Payment."
6. Click "Continue" and follow the instructions to refund payments.

Option 2. Money in your PayPal account will be held for 180 days. After 180
days, we'll email you information on how to receive your funds.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks,
Jay

The only way is to call them to try and figure it out. Sorry, but you may want to start a stealth account following the ebay stealth guide.

Any do's and don't s on the phone with paypal. Any good opening statements? Thanks

philly387 03-17-2010 03:05 PM

Mine is usually... "WTF?" lol...

Just ask why I guess. There has to be a reason but they will probably just say it was in our best interest to quit working with you.

Is there even a point to call them?, if their going to be freaken tools like that. I heard the appeal process at paypal is a joke within itself.

Well the worst that could happen is the account is still limited. People do sometimes get their accounts back. But you just have to jump through the hoops.

riversnew 03-17-2010 05:50 PM

What is going on in your eaby account(s)?

Oh, dear. Your little nose out of joint? Try doing that to paypal and kiss your money goodbye for ever. I'm going to proceed with the premise you were just letting off youthful steam and will approach this sensibly:rolleyes:

Did paypal limit you first or did ebay?
Why did you not tell either you were overseas
What sort of customer service have you provided
Was a lot of money going thro' the accounts
Was everything in good standing or had your attitude done some damage?;)
When you have had a think about this, phone paypal. Ask to speak to a supervisor. Quietly ask how this can be resolved. Explain your status as a student, be reasonable. Sell yourself to paypal as a good user:rolleyes: A little tact might work:peace:
Try that, then come back & we'll take it from there

Paypal limited me first, I believe they sent me RIX034. Although I remember they wanted me to verify my ssn, id, tracking number of packages, and the usual invoice.

I sold eight items of Office 2007.

Everything is in goodstanding no buyer complaints whatsoever or bad ratings

I believe being in Shanghai China is what tipped them off. I am just really upset about a part that a guy name Jay from Paypal can just limit your account for no reason. I would have to say if its his paypal account , he would of been upset too.

GreenBean 03-18-2010 12:50 AM

@littleredengine, come cry with most of us. That is exactly how users get treated. They do not care. :tears:

Try the phone call: obviously it's not a guarantee but sometimes it works.
Shanghai, Office 2007 & access from a different computer are the probable causes. :peace:

My eBay account is restricted because of my paypal account. I still want to use my eBay account.

I going to use paymate.com, google checkout, and so on. I might offer discount too. If people use it. Do you think I can just add if people want to use paypal they can send payments to certain email address without link it.

Well I got them from someone who went bankrupt or something. Its legit software I check with Microsoft. I made 50 bucks at most on each, but this was a one time shot.

First Edition 03-19-2010 01:57 AM

What you're selling is high risk to ebay and paypal

FYI selling keys is illegal, if you have your social on it, i would start over with a stealth account.

Calling them may help, but they will most likley want invoices, supplier info, the whole nine yards.

It was new and sealed in the box. I had no buyer complaints or anything of that sort First Edition. I showed them the invoice, suppliers info, and so on.

Do you think I have more of case if I told them I travel a lot around the world?

First Edition 03-21-2010 08:21 AM

Communicating with them is the best way to go... but keep in mind, most people that sell software don't take random weekends to Thailand.

Did you get perm limited?

littleredengine07 03-22-2010 12:14 AM

I am not sure, they just send me the email listed below. Does initial letter that they send me constitute a perm limited. I made sure the software is not from Asian Country I heard a lot of counterfeits are going around. Although here is the email listed below
