| onlineseller | 05-03-2010 04:03 PM | Limited again This seems to happen every Monday. I was very careful with this account. Different IP, no cookies, different address, different name.
However, the email address was "similar" to ones I've used before.
So did the email address kill it, or too much activity?
I opened it as premier, verified it, and received about $600 during the week. I used that money to buy the products, so everybody has received their items. There should be no issues.
In my past experience, anything over $1000 too fast would flag the account but in this case it was much less. They are asking for business information. Should I open as personal next time?
Next time I'll make sure to move the money out before Monday. |
| superfly | 05-03-2010 08:46 PM | kinda sounds like how mine was limited. maybe too much money too fast. but i noticed it happened with i sent payment to my supplier through my stealth account. so new rule. dont buy product with the same account you sell with. at least for me anyway lol |
So how old was the account. What type of items was you selling? How quick did you pay your supplier? Same day you got the money? |

Well there's your problems. PayPal doesn't like when you do that. You have to find other products or other funds to use first then you can operate the way you want. Otherwise you will just keep getting limited. |
| superfly | 05-03-2010 10:03 PM | yeah pretty sure ill just start taking my original planned sales and spreading it among several accounts so its. access to all the money and less account activity. |
| onlineseller | 05-03-2010 10:40 PM | Yes money came in and I sent the money to my supplier the same day.
I'm wondering if, I only used it for ebay items strictly, if the same thing would happen. Ebay items, of course, are already here, so there is no need to send the money out.
It sounds like "money in, money out" too fast was the culprit.
They did also place an investigation on a couple of the transactions going out, which were all legitimate.
The thing is, if I had left all of the funds in the account, they would be holding $600+, which is why I wanted it out. Luckily they only came away with $20. |
| onlineseller | 05-04-2010 12:23 AM | I opened a new account, new IP. Customer wants to use paypal. It's an $800 order. I think that is going to be way too much for the first day. |
| superfly | 05-04-2010 06:47 AM | Paypals new slogan should be PayPal: In Case You Want to Eff With Your Seller |
Sometimes you can get away with it if you don't touch the money right away. To PayPal everything looks like fraud. So if you don't do things to look like fraud then you have a less chance to get limited. Trust me before being on this website I was getting limited left and right. Now i'm using 10+ accounts none of them being limited because they are all aged and I go slow so nothing looks like fraud. I hope this helps! |
| cardfelon | 05-04-2010 07:51 AM | If your suppliers are in China and you make payments to them thru the same account that you are receiving your payments into then that will get you limited almost everytime |
| onlineseller | 05-04-2010 10:42 PM | As a test, I opened a new account. I received the $800 payment from my customer. It was immediately limited.
So to me it looks like there is an invisible $500 limit, at least in my case. |
You are doing something wrong.
:ranger: |
| onlineseller | 05-05-2010 01:17 AM | Well obviously I am, I'm trying to figure that out.
This new account had no information related to me, it was all made up. However, I did use the same password I always use. |
| superfly | 05-05-2010 07:28 AM | change ip address? |
| onlineseller | 05-05-2010 09:46 PM | I'm always on a new IP address.
For the test account, I used my real address, from when I was a kid, before paypal existed. As soon as the payment was sent to me, it was locked. |
| FandangoKango | 05-05-2010 10:36 PM | I spoke to paypal on the phone and some idiot answered telling me that you have to have the items in hand and you cannot do it the other way around or then you shoudn't be selling. LOl, what an idiot since he doesn't know how hard we work, but yeah paypal doesn't like that. I learned my lesson hard, but there are ways to get around it, but just have to be more stealthful. Hit me up if I can help with anything :) |
| onlineseller | 05-06-2010 02:55 AM | ^ That can't be true because when you sell things that are laying around your garage, they ask you for invoices for the items.
So either way, you are screwed. |

Dont think in the here & now and you will be limited on every account you make. It's also not such a good idea to 'link' payments to a supplier to ebay accounts.
A brand new paypal account can get limited for as little as $20 and if $800 comes into a new account, it too is stopped.
Couple of things to think about : have you thought of a merchant account?
Why are you 'racing' in with high risk items and using paypal.
What your limit was 6 months ago no longer counts. Start selling with that in mind:ranger:
What's the actual limitation and have you tried to resolve it? Might any of these accounts have been rescued? |
| onlineseller | 05-07-2010 02:56 AM | Who said I was selling high risk items? |
| onlineseller | 05-07-2010 10:32 PM | I found out today that my UVERSE IP had never been changing. All of these months I always thought I was.
I haven't accessed paypal or ebay from home lately since I wondered about this. That probably explains some of the earlier closures. |
| onlineseller | 05-13-2010 07:02 PM | My *new* ebay account is still up and running after 2 weekends, I'll find out saturday morning if it is still alive for the 3rd week.
This time, I am only listing about 2-3 items per week. I did not open an "ebay store" like I did before and I'm not using paypal with it.
I also opened a another paypal account, but have not used it yet. |
| onlineseller | 05-18-2010 09:09 PM | I've sold a couple of things through ebay on the new accounts. I did NOT link ebay at all. It has survived the weekend again.
I'm trying to be real slow. No ebay store, just listing 1-2 items a day, all auction style, very expensive to list, and shipping quickly.
However, I noticed, when I listed a couple of items today, the option to receive payment via VISA/MC is gone. The last couple of items I listed, I have linked to the paypal account. Now time will tell if that will be the demise of it. I have never received a paypal payment directly for any of the auctions, and the account is staying open. |

| imhim | 05-19-2010 06:29 PM | onlineseller, how did you do that? im looking to do exactly what your doing... |
| onlineseller | 05-20-2010 03:12 AM | do what?
I'm not out of the woods yet. I just made a new account, and have been working on it SLOWLY.
Patience seems to be the key, as proven by some of the more experienced users here. |
| bigbluemacaw | 05-20-2010 06:22 AM | You know what might help? If you are sure you can trust the supplier, don't use paypal. Use Western Union. They will get the money in about 1 day and it only costs $10.00. If you have to send a payment of $1000.00 or more, send 2 payments because WU is required to report all transactions of $1000.00 or more. |
| HurricaneHuntr | 05-20-2010 07:57 AM | Meh it's all relative, it's all about risk with paypal. If they think something is shady, they'll limit it. Even if it's not.
10+ accounts, go slow. List 2-3 items PER WEEK on each. End auctions early even if profits look high. I ended an auction at xx amount today. Why? Because it still had 3 days to go and the price was enough profit for me, and the sale gets completed... hopefully heh |
| onlineseller | 05-22-2010 04:59 PM | I've survived another saturday. The slow listing and lack of paypal seems to be the key. After this week, it's time to start working another account, and start a rotation like many experienced members have done. |

I was listing a genuine used TV which I took photos of.
ebay gave me MC010
then they suspended me...
saying "there was a discrepency with my registration information"
:S
how can I just use an ebay sellers account and just sell |
| onlineseller | 05-23-2010 06:33 PM | I'm not sure about that one, with all of the ebay accounts I have been through, I have never had to do that.
I just open the account, add a phone number, verify the PIN, and make a listing (only 1).
I'm getting close to the 30 day mark and nothing has happened yet, so I think I will be OK as long as I keep listing slowly and not sell any high dollar items.
Are you in UK? There could be a different set of rules there.
update: I have accepted my first ebay payment through paypal directly. I also used that same paypal account to pay my first ebay invoice. So we will see what paypal thinks about this. |
| onlineseller | 05-24-2010 04:03 PM | Happy Monday!
This new paypal account now has a 21 day hold policy. This is after receiving my first payment 2nd payment through ebay. I'm not sure if it had to do with ebay or not. |
| onlineseller | 06-05-2010 10:58 PM | Made it through another Saturday. It's funny how ebay is not suspending my account when they are making about $10 out of every auction.
$200 of the $400 funds that were on hold were released today. I sent the $200 to a friend of mine who needed some money.
We will see what paypal thinks about this "activity" monday morning. |
| onlineseller | 06-07-2010 09:58 PM | Survived another paypal monday. The sending out of $200 did not seem to trip the trigger.
I checked, and I'm about $850 received on this new account without an issue. I think that I should really try not to go over $1000.
Keep in mind that my old VERIFIED account, received only $600 and was instantly limited. But it was only open for a few days. So, as many have said 100x, slow and steady is the key here. This account is still not verified and has received more in total funds. |
| jbluntz | 06-07-2010 11:00 PM | There's a $500 recieving limit on new accounts also they don't like dropshipers, you need to pay your supplier from another account. Also its better to start off selling at least 20-30 lower priced non branded items to get the account ready. |

WAAAAAY To Fast, I personally sheepdip (Prepare) my accounts for 3 Months before I attempt a single sale, and when I do start to sell, I make the Sale, collect the money, ship the Item, beg for feedback, get the feedback, wait for the Paypal hold to drop, Withdraw MOST, Not ALL of the money, and start again.
By the end of the third month from when I started selling I may have 3, TOPS, items that I will sell in a week. By the end of that accounts First year I MAY have 15-20 items selling in a week. |
| onlineseller | 06-08-2010 01:17 AM | I'm only selling used items that I have on hand. A couple of more sales and then this account is going on the shelf to age like a fine wine. |
| onlineseller | 06-09-2010 05:06 PM | I think I just screwed myself up.
I added another address (a real one, not mine). The original address was ⊗⊗⊗⊗. It was never an issue before.
So today I login from a new IP, and it's asking me to verify the CC # on the account. It was a prepaid card and I threw it away a long time ago. I never figured on having to keep that around after it was empty.
There is about $300 in there and the account was perfect! I should not have added that address without thinking first. CRAP!
Is there any way to force my internet BACK to the IP I used yesterday? I wrote it down. I'm using AT&T dsl. I don't know if it will help but it's worth a shot. |
| imhim | 06-11-2010 05:14 PM | looks like to me you are going to have to provide the credit card info or it just may get suspended... - call them | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:01 PM. | |
