Paypal Limited w/$1800 in account
 

Here's my story. So this is a stealth account that still has the $500 limit. I had money in there to pay for eBay fees and stuff that I was going to buy, etc. I just bought some postage from the Paypal postage service and then my account got limited. Now they want the following:

Resolve complaints (I have no complaints)
Confirm Social Security (Stealth account w/no SSN)
Provide proof of delivery (All my items have tracking numbers through PP mail service)
Provide Invoices (I just buy stuff on eBay and resell)
Set credit check address (Stealth Account, address is not good)

What can I do? Thanks!

See my suggestions below your quote:

1. You will probably have to call them regarding a correction. You might possibly send a message within their website.

2. Possibly inform them that you do not provide your SSN (security reasons) or quickly obtain an EIN in that name.

3. See my suggestion in #1

4. You will need to explain this to them. They will be able to (if they are willing) check your ebay purchases against your items listed. If you used a different account to make the purchases, this is no good. The other option is to produce your own invoices.

5. I can't think of a do-able solution here. If the account is stealth and they have no SSN, they can not check credit (therefore can't compare address). This is the kind of issue that should always be taken care of before it is needed. It is the most difficult thing to correct after it is too late.

Do what the second post said. For the social security you can tell them that before you have been a victim of identity theft and that you do not feel comfortable giving your ssn. If they want proof ask them how do they want proof and tell them alright let me check if I can get it and hang up. Since probably you cannot get it come up with something good and call them back. HIT US BACK UP TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED!

Pay close attention to the wording of the request for SSN. Does it ask exactly for SSN or does it ask for PROOF of SSN.

They've asked me for proof of SSN.

I have on one occassion (my one real paypal) photocopied my DD214, blacked out most of the details, faxed it to them, and said "there's proof".

You see, Uncle Sam don't let you have a gun and play soldier unless he's got your SSN. My proof of service is proof of SSN. They didn't argue with that.

Now thats a good one. I havent yet tried my DD214 to get around that.
