GOt limited, what I should do

My paypal account got limited, I tried to submit some info to PP but they still denied.

Right now more buyers opened a dispute because they said they do not receive the parcels( International air parcel does not come with a tracking number)

There is not enough fund in my PP account.

I know I cannot close PP right now but can I close my bank account.so Paypal cannot get the money from my bank.

what happened after I closed my bank account?
I opened PP without my real info.

Help

thanks

I don't know how this works in Canada but if you close your account in UK and owe ebay or paypal money they will just sell your debt to an agency and then the bailiffs will turn up at your house to collect. Who would you rather deal with? paypal or debt collectors?

babysue 10-04-2010 07:24 AM

I opened ebay and PP without my real info?

Please let me know what will happen after I closed my bank account

thanks

revskank 10-04-2010 08:04 AM

I am not sure then? What are the rules on debt collection in Canada? Could ebay or paypal find out your details from the bank? If not then I don't see that they could do much apart from chase someone that does not exist!

rsot 10-04-2010 11:37 AM

I will tell you what happens babysue ha.

You didn't use real info? What about address?

One account of Paypal went into negative 12 months ago. I got booted from eBay for various reasons. I used fa*se info for address, name, etc. I kept the phone number active. I get DAILY calls from collection service. Yes, your account goes into collection (my total is in midway triple digits so...). Yes you will get called. I bet your credit history takes a hit but what worries if said person does not exist ha!

BUT, I don't recommend it - I am just telling you what happens. I can live with the daily 8 am phone call ha. Reason I am not paying this off is because I refunded any outstanding buyers, sales were closed, and eBay still charges me for final value that I had no chance to reclaim so screw that.

babysue 10-04-2010 03:02 PM

I do not use real name, address, and I have already changed my phone number.

Please help. I have no idea what will happened?

Right now I have already closed my bank accounts.

Will Paypal still can get my money from my closed bank accounts?

oompaloompa 10-04-2010 03:33 PM

if you are sure there are no links to your address via the info you gave them, then paypal will have little chance of chasing you

I do not think pp can take from your bank if it is closed.

How did you agree to pay your fees, pp balance or card?

rsot 10-04-2010 03:47 PM

If closed - NO.

They will call any number on file to try and reach IF the amount goes to collections - how much?

oompaloompa 10-04-2010 03:49 PM

yes how much is crucial, give us a ball park

babysue 10-04-2010 04:13 PM

Hey I pay my ebay fee by gift visa.

If buyers opened disputes, I think PP will charged 450.00 US

Thanks.

But I contacted with my bank, my bank told me that my accounts will be completely closed in 2 months. Right my account was closed but My bank will keep the record for another two months.

oompaloompa 10-04-2010 04:33 PM

yes they hold bank open, but you did not agree to any fees in first place from bank, good move

$450 hmmm borderline..........keep your fingers crossed they give up

revskank 10-05-2010 02:06 AM

I honestly don't think any debt collection agency will take on a debt that size.
Going by experience with UK paypal, small claims court has a minimum amount and chasing a debt under 1000 is a bit worthless as man hours to chase would cost more than what is owed.
I think they would just give up at anything more than phone calls and nasty letters/emails.
They would obviously try to take it from the bank if you had agreed to the sneaky direct debit that they trick you into when you agree to pay fee's by bank, but as you didn't then I think you will be safe.

PP and bankaccount

I had the same problem before. Never ever did they try and get money from my bank account (I don't think it works like that in Canada anyway). I wouldn't worry. and yes they will give it to the collection agencies. if they phone (and you can figure out if it is them, normally comes up with a private number and call us back, HA!) tell them you are not the person they are looking for. change your phone number if necessary.

babysue 10-05-2010 11:15 PM

thanks everyone

So the balance in my PP account will be negative but Paypal cannot get the money from a closed bank account!

Am I right?

I am really appreciated for your help!

thanks again

luna 10-05-2010 11:30 PM

I think..

to be on the safe side I would put a stop payment at my bank from anything from PP (if you are not sure about the amount you have to put 0.01 in online, so I have been told). Why did you close the account? I don't think that even PP can take money from the account without authorization? Might be different in the US I am not sure.

FandangoKango 10-06-2010 04:03 PM

So the balance in my PP account will be negative but Paypal cannot get the money from a closed bank account!

Am I right? You are right, but just to make sure you should close your bank account since there are stories that paypal does all kind of illegal activity without authorization or within terms of theirs.

When you get the collection calls just store them on your phone as collection agency number 1,2,3, etc so you know just to ignore.

rsot 10-06-2010 04:22 PM

Closed bank accounts = over - Paypal cannot get the money.

My amount for reference that has caused me regular Unknown number calls was about in mid Triple digit range. $450 will likely go to collections - either close the number or get used to random calls and messages.

Either way, if they don't have any real info on you, you will be safe.

luna 10-07-2010 10:27 AM

yes rsot is absolutely right. it will go to collections have it seen for lesser amounts, and if you use my1voice you can add a tag or number in front of the number you have given out. might be handy too. and collection agency normally call from a private number. so when you get called about 2-3 month just ask who is calling or if you used ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and you ask them to whom they want to talk and they use the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name tell them they have the wrong number and any other story. they will never call again trust me.

I had one account owing $170.
I also had one owing $32.

They kept sending me crap in the mail. I would open it, read it, discard it. After about 5 or 6 letters they sent me one that said they would settle at $85 and $16, again I threw it out. Then I got one final letter saying that the chargers are to be dropped by I cannot ever use eBay.

Yet I have 3 active accounts... hmmmmm

HurricaneHuntr 10-10-2010 04:06 PM

265=collections. my sister was pissed when her 2 year old got a letter in the mail. I might end up paying it, but then again in 15 years when he needs credit, will it really matter? By then i could just log in and dispute it on the report and more times than not, they erase it

If they don't have the kid's social they can't do jack if they do then yes they can. Pay it off.

Why would you he use the kid's info? well maybe 15 years from now ebay doesn't exist so he's trying to do what he can right now before ebay closes and get some money. Nuclear war time soon and ebay will get bombered in one of the wars.
