Talking to paypal on the phone
 

I was wondering, if I were to ring up paypal to query a limit, what kind of information do they ask to confirm who you are when you ring up?

They know what phone number you are calling from, if it is the number on record they will know it, if not they will ask if you want the number added to your record. Then you will speak to a representative who will tell you basically the same thing as the email they sent as to why it was limited and ask for the same docs. Oh and by the way mantisinc, i sent you a pm about the voip.

When ever I call, it's from the number I have listed on my business account, they know who I am. THey just confirm last 4 of either my CC number, or SS# and that's usually it. I believe.

Yep and remember caller id block does not work with 1-800 and toll free numbers. Thats why I always use their local number to use caller id block with. They always said why dont u use our toll free number and I tell them it doesnt matter I have free long distance..

Caller Id Block may not work in the states, but if you are in the Uk and Ex-Directory, it does not reveal your number.. as the paypal rep will ask you, you can refuse to give it, and they then back down and as Aspkin mentioned.. the last 4 digits of your cc is enough..

whoa thats good to know. Are you sure about that though...because everytime i call i press *67 and i thought that blocked it.

Ironically enough I just had an experience with getting my account unlimited. I always do *67 and he says i can see youre calling from the registered number which i wasnt so i wonder if they can see it.

I called PP the other day about a query an a limitation from the number I have listed..They asked for my last 4 dig of CC or Bank..sent me to an agent..

Agent asked my name and said im limited because I sold stuff on ebay and withdrew the money. I said "isn't that what im supposed to do?" This is a 90+ day account and increased $50 from my highest week..

Then they said "Well, the real reason is when we called this number a few hrs ago someone answered and said this wasn't your number" which is BS. They did call but the person who answered the phone said "No he's not here right now can I take a message" We thought it was a telemarketer. They didn't identify themselves and called from "Unknown Number"...

I said "so if my account is Limited because of the phone # im verifying it now" they respond "sir I cannot see what number this is, I have no way of knowing" I said "What? how come last time they knew?" I drilled them about it..and they started to get nervous..I kept saying "are you lying?"

anyway..my appeal is pending we will see what happens..
