Ebay Gift Card Balance attached to a Permanently Limited Paypal Account - Updated
 

Several weeks ago, I mentioned that I contacted my state Attorney General's office (state of Maryland) to resolve the ebay gift card balance worth about $355 attached to my permanently limited Paypal account.
Today, I received a letter from the Attorney General Office consumer protection division stating that Paypal contacted AG office and were willing to refund ebay gift card balance to my Paypal balance so that I can withdraw the balance to my bank account.
I guess Paypal think they couldn't win this unfair business practice of stealing ebay gift card customers' money by limiting their accounts.

As of today, Paypal has not moved ebay gift card balance to my paypal balance nor has not received any email from Paypal. Attorney General office asked to send a letter if this problem is not resolved within 2 weeks. So let's see if Paypal really does what they promised to AG office.

If not, I'll contact AG office again for Paypal's prompt response.

I think everyone who has been treated unfairly by Paypal should contact AG office. I will never use Paypal again.

LEt's wait see - these big companies tend to just write you off on stuff. Hope it works out.

I have the same problem with paypal. But my gift certificate is only $10. But the problem is with my credit card. They limited my account and I can't use my credit card on ebay. I only have one credit card. I hate paypal.

Great News!!!

With help of my state attorney general's office consumer protection dept., I just got a refund from Paypal. Paypal deposited ebay gift card balance of $354 to my paypal balance, so I just withdrew to my bank account.

This doesn't mean that they lifted my limitation. My account is still limited, but allowed me to withdraw all balance.

I think fight for consumer's right is really paid off.

I still think Paypal should change their ebay gift card policy in the case of limitation.

I wonder what address or phone number the AG uses to contact paypal? I would guess they certify mail it to their corporate headquarters.

If some could scan the AG office letter head and envelope it would help us all out.

AG office letter head and envelope....scan? Ha sounds like you would do something a bit more illegal. Let's just have the info straight up and then whatever.

I send my own complaining letter to AG office consumer protection division. One mediator was assigned, and I communicated with her. She sent an official letter to Paypal Executive Escalations Office and copied me.

The address to which mediator sent her official letter is

Paypal Corp.
12312 Port Grace Blvd.
Attn: Executive Escalations
LaVista NE 68128.

I also received an email from escalation officer, and personally spoke to her to explain what's going on with my ebay gift card.

She could not argue with me why Paypal was doing this unfair business practice, but she kept saying that's why we are refunding ebay gift card balance.

Can you imagine how much ebay gift card money sitting useless in numerous permanetly limited account?
