Paypal Limited - Associated with Negative Balance

Hi there folks~
Been digging around this forum for the last day or two, and decided to just go ahead and post.
Last week, someone transferred $150 into my paypal account (Account 1) and I promptly went to transfer the funds into my bank account. A day or two later, I received a message that my account was being limited because it was associated with another account (Account 2) that has a negative balance of $159. I have used Account 1 without problems for at least 5 years. In most cases it was used to pay for items. Occasionally, I received money as well through small sales on ebay, but I do believe the recent $150 transfer into the account was the most that has been in there. I had a couple of bank accounts associated with Account 1 as well. As for Account 2, it appears to be an account that was in service back around 2002/03. At that time, my financial status was seriously malaligned and it comes as no surprise to me that now, some 8 years later I find out that I had a negative balance of $159 in an old paypal account. Long story short, I was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2004 and apparently this paypal account wasnt included in my discharge.
I just dont get how now...8 years later they can come and take my money. Is there anything that I can do? If this was only next year I will be finished with the bar and hopefully an attorney by then...

I don't think you can do anything about it. You are using their service and they have found out that you owed them money for their service from 8 years ago.

Same things happens with a utility company. Say for example that you moved in 2001 from a house and "forgot" to pay your $150 bill with the gas company. For the next 9 yrs you live in all electric home. Now this year you move into another house and now have to turn on the gas. The gas company remembers and now you have to settle with them and pay a deposit before they will turn your gas on.

Same with paypal, it's just that it took them awhile to link account 1 to account 2.

Man, that really sucks bad. I sold some stupid water plants to someone and spent cash outta pocket to cover shipping and put several hours of grueling work into the project. So I basically paid $15 to work my butt off for 4-5 hours...

Thanks anyway for responding tho.

My last inquiry would be regarding the remaining $9 negative balance in Account 2... what becomes of that? Should I be looking forward to paypal shutting down Account 1 now as seems to happen to many posters at this site? Thanks

Honestly 150$ is nothing for somebody who sells on ebay . You should be lucky they didnt put intrest on it as over 8 yrs that could be huge cash. You should never associate 1 account with another in anyway.
Some people say its ok to transfer money from one to another etc. Id say the best thing is to keep everything separated and never get any links.
