Account limited due to another account opened
 

I have been using ebay and paypal since 2003. 3 weeks ago they limited my account because there was another account with similar data. I tried to lift up the limitation but was telling me that my SS was already on another account. I called them and paypal told me that another account was opened about 2 months ago with an email very similar as mine AND WITH MY SS. I told the rep it was fraud and she only could tell me to file a case with the police. now I am screwed and cant buy anything on ebay anymore. I already placed a fraud alert with my SS and so far nothing has been damage, only my paypal account. any suggestions as to how to fix this ? please help

Keep calling paypal and explain that your SS# was stolen and try to get the Paypal monkey to press the right button. Call several times if you have to.

Short of that, go to police and tell them your SS# was stolen and you need to file identity theft report for your insurance. Then send paypal a registered letter with a copy of the report telling them to remove the SS# from the false account, or you will take legal action.

Go figure this they do nothing about, yet post a coupon without a picture and you will get suspended. Today is one of those hate ebay days...sowwy

Welcome to the forum - this is definitely a dicey issue and you will need to get some legal action going - police report and documentation from pa yp al about this. Sadly, given pp's history, I would not expect you to be able to function with them but you need to see wtf is going on with your SSN being used - pronto.

I would deeply check into this and if it is a fact that someone did this with your SS information you need to dig into this and find out how.

Get legal advice as well. ID theft and the internet are serious matters.
