Will they know the my real address if SSN is given?
 

Well, here's my situation.
I had a suspended eBay and limited Paypal account. And they have my real name and address. Then, I opened a UPS box and created another eBay and Paypal account, using my wife's info (all the info is legit, and nothing is stealth except for the UPS box address). The account lasted for about a year, until it was limited because of the 20,000$ IRS rule. Now, Paypal ask for my wife's SSN to lift up the limitation.
My question is if I give them my wife's SSN, will they know my real address? (Thus, suspend the account for good due to linkage with my old account). We have filed the tax jointly, so is there anyway they know that I had some relationship with her.
Of course we don't want to ditch the tax because it's the law. However, if giving the SSN would accelerate my account to permanent limitation, I wouldn't. Any advice from the experienced member would be very appreciated. Thanks!

PayPal will not know your real address by giving them your SS number. The only thing they could possibly cross reference is that the name matches the number.

I guess they can know your real address if they have your real name, DOB and SSN

The address will.

You need to change up the address or use stealth methods as once you put in any matching info to a banned account you will go down.

Why are you using the SSN anyway?

Because I don't want to have any problem with the IRS. My payment is more than 20,000$ in revenue, and you know, paying tax is a law.
So they'll know the real address of a person once SSN is submitted?! That really sucks!

I have searched the forum but couldn't find any post relate the SSN with the real address. If you do know, please get me an advice. Thanks!

Never give them your social... Get a EIN and use that...

Also, you will have to pay taxes on that income so it would help if you set up as a home business and get tax deductions...

I totally encourage you to pay your taxes. I know what the law is.

No way around paying your taxes.

But what you need to learn is how to use an EIN, DBA etc on accounts that have the potential of selling lots of stuff and getting the IRS paperwork.

No way did I mean for you to not pay your taxes owed. What I did mean was learn how to operate with several accounts and spread your sales over them so you wont get nailed with the irs paperwork.

Spread those sales! I run several stealth accounts collectively way over 20K in total sales. The IRS gets my SS/EIN, ebay on the other hand... :shhh::spy:

I was trying to apply for the EIN, but they won't accept PO box. Can I use my real "suspended" address to apply for the EIN? Once I give the EIN to Paypal, Do they know the real address on it? =}

Paypal doesn't need any help from the IRS in determining addresses associated with a SSN. With a ONLY a SSN, Paypal can pull a SSN trace. This is basically the header from your credit report. It shows any names and aliases associated with the SSN, current and previous addresses and phone numbers. Your credit score is not included in a SSN trace, but more than enough information is there for Paypal to determine the real name, date of birth and address associated with the SSN provided. If you think Paypal wouldn't go through the hassle to do this, think again. SSN traces are instantanious and cost pennies to perform.

Bottom line, any SSN you provide to Paypal had better match both the name, age and address listed on your account, because Paypal can and WILL find that information out.
