| futbolplayer | 06-07-2012 03:15 PM | Legit paypal limited I have a legit PayPal of about 1.5 months old. I started doing some sales averaging about 300 dollars a day. PayPal limited me saying "it isn't personal, it's based on risk/reward." I am trying to run a legit business and cannot get it running. I sent them all information: invoice, ssn, proof of tracking, and the appeal was denied. What is the reason for the PayPal limitation? I have a legit business model, which I can capitalize on but cannot get past having my account limited for no reason... |

What is the reason for the PayPal limitation?
Unless you can provide more info on your business...sadly that's a q you need to ask PP directly - perhaps they find your items risky, or the way you are selling risky... Not much to say from the info you are providing. |

Like was said before it is best to spread the sales out across accounts since that limitation can be triggered by a high sale volume (and also by withdrawing too soon after getting paid btw; wait a few days after positive feedback is left), and that way you won't have large sums of money building up in the account before they limit you.
But for me, PayPal is far too temperamental to do business with at all; THEY are the risk (despite what the try to tell you in a sugar-coated way) and WE need to be protected from THEM and their "policies". I cannot afford to have money just disappear for 180 days any more (even after trying your hardest to please them and make them happy) since my business is my only source of income now and I cannot survive without it. It is like they enjoy having all that power and abusing it. You can minimize the risk but those jackasses can still decide to shut you down as any time for the most stupid of reasons (if you are lucky enough to even get an explanation out of them...) without warning and may not restore you even if you comply with their requests (as you did). I have moved away from them almost entirely now, and only use them occasionally. When customers ask me to use it these days I almost have a fit... and try sway them to use a "safer" (I know, PayPal flat out lied when they used that term to describe themselves) payment methods instead.
To be honest I am surprised that they are not out of business yet with the way that they conduct it. Talk about appalling, borderline illegal business practices and ridiculous hoops to jump through to get your own money (and that not even guaranteed after jumping through them), Jesus Christ. What a disgrace of a company. Perhaps someday somebody will support our cause (and that of anybody else abused by these monsters) and will start a bigger, better brand new auction site with more reliable electronic payment methods and eBay and PayPal will just die. Because although eBay are not quite as bad as PayPal, they can still be a big problem (especially since sometimes their restrictions are entirely based on PayPal choosing to limit you for their own idiotic reasons, like they cannot think for themselves, like a flock of f*cking sheep...) and even if you can solve half of the problem (cut PayPal out), you still need eBay to make enough sales online, and currently nothing else rivals them. Maybe Amazon fits the bill but I hear that they are even worse and after hearing all the negative experiences I am a bit hesitant to go there for anything other than to buy occasionally.
I look forward to their demise and will spit and stomp all over them WHEN that happens. |
| cmbhuy | 06-08-2012 03:33 PM | well said Elijah
but the volume of sells we can do on eBay sometimes its worth it. |

They did this to my legit account late last year and I had to work my butt off to get them to release it.
Therefore I realized I need hundreds of accounts to sell the volume I want and now have them and working on more and more. |
Sandy your an inspiration to us all. |

I try to help others as much has I can. I have a lot to learn and owe many of the vets here a lot for the help they have given me in the past 3+ years.
I dont give up the fight, eb and pp screwed me over so badly and stole a ton of money from me I will never forget it.
Just when I need the money to most after both DH and I got laid off almost at the same time I worked ebay hard and had a ton of money piled up to keep things going until we got back to work. They shut me down and stole my money.
The wrong thing to do is steal from me. I will and have made them pay for what they did.
I hope others will give the effort and work hard to get to a point they are very successful at what they do.
Hard work, effort, determination will always prevail.
I wont be defeated. I wont quit and I will not allow eb and pp to steal from me again. |
| jeffweico | 06-15-2012 12:54 AM | Why does PayPal limit you? It could be several things: - What you are selling
- Your credit rating
- Your feedback or communications with customers
- Your business category
- Age of your business
- And more...

| As usual Jeff is dead on.
Need to add suspicious activity.
Selling to fast.
Selling risky items.
Competitor reporting you. |
| Elijah | 06-24-2012 05:24 AM | The credit rating part is just retarded (if they didn't like it, then why not check it from the outset?), as is "selling too fast". If your customers are happy and you provide good service, what difference does it make? Just more reason to make accounts as disposable as you can... and never get too attached to any one account. Well over half of eBay problems are due to PayPal's laughable "risk assessment" process. |
| futbolplayer | 06-28-2012 08:19 PM | I am really not sure. I provided them with all information. I had the account opened as a business account with an EIN supplies and everything. I am not selling any high risk items, simply wholesales from USA warehouses like ottomans, table center pieces, iphone covers, card decks, etc... No VERO and nothing illegitimate. PayPal has held 10k from me for 180 days before, this was after I was permanently limited for excessive refunds -- I admit it, my business model was not sound enough any my refund rate was too high. However, I took four months coding up an inventory management system, as well as a software that lets me upload products up to ebay every 45 seconds. I am ready to make a killing on eBay again but I am worried about my PayPal becoming limited again. I tried to ask to appeal but they said no appeals allowed. This is a 100% legit business model, I have spent months developing the code, and I am ready for my ROI. Any words of advice?
I do not think its related to credit score. While I have not establish a lot of credit, I previously used a PayPal account of a friends who has little to no credit and did 180k sales no problems. My theory is that she had an account that was about three years old and somehow built "credibility" with PayPal. I think since I created a new PayPal and starting kicking sales really fast, this is the reason they limited me. |
